One of the worst hotels I've stayed @
Checked out next day and upgraded myself to a proper hotel

Bed and couch appears like old Ikea furniture - Might as well stayed @ a hostel

No bar or restaurant...the bar/restaurant posted is around the corner at a larger mercure

No TV in the bedroom ...and since they are sold out you're stuck- really?
And they have the worst cable channels ...or rather the lack there of.

No bottle water in the rooms
No central air either ...space heater and window's depending on the temp you want

Walls are very thin - sorry the my neighbors who could hear my tv all nite. ..

Hotel is centrally located in the city, can just walk to go around..Rooms is alright, clean and enough space, but just close the windows as it could get noisy at night due to the bars nearby. Good hotel for a budget friendly price.

Dear Sametty,

Thank you for sharing your experience on Trip Advisor. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay in our spacious rooms.

I am sorry about the noise at night, being at a central location we can encounter some noise issues on lower floors.

Thank you again for writing and we look forward to welcoming you back in near future.

The good thing about the Mercure is that it didn’t pretend to be what it isn’t! It’s a mid range hotel that ticks all the boxes, clean and tidy, rooms are of average size but I didn’t feel boxed in.....I’m by no means a small bloke either! The guys at reception are friendly and efficient, and out of all the Accor branded hotels in town they are the most responsive to my emails. What also gives it an edge is it’s fairly close to the CBD. If you are like me and arrive latish then no need to pay for parking, use the available parking on the road outside the hotel, it’s well lit and safe and you won’t get a ticket as long as you are gone by about 8:30 in the morning!

Tired, sparse room, not the perception I had gained from the internet photos at all. It was clean, but lacking. TV picture very poor, pillows lumpy. Poor and noisy heater. Shower sprayed water everywhere, fan ineffective, little counter top space in bathroom (impractical, especially when dealing with contact lenses!) Reception staff very pleasant.

We took advantage of a voucher type booking. Mercure had promised a one bedroom apartment, Sky TV, kitchenette and a view. What we were given was a substandard slightly run down apartment. Very worn couch, cracks in the tiles of the bathroom that didn’t have a tray for the shower. No Sky TV or kitchenette. When we rang reception to let them know we weren’t happy with what we’d paid for, we were forced to talk with a new staff member who was being told what to say by the night manager (you could hear him in the background) - even though we specifically asked for the manager. After insisting that the staff member just pass the phone to the manager (Kieran), we were told there was nothing they could do and that we'd just have to deal with it. False advertising after paying for one thing and being given another. We kept insisting that we were happy and eventually he just hung up on us. I'm not unreasonable and I didn't think I was being unreasonable. The only thing that makes this review a 2 star is the day shift manager (Alyssa - very easy to deal with, so thanks) the next day who tried to save the situation by upgrading us to what we should have had in the first place. A little too late. And proving that Kieran was way out of line. Won't be wasting money staying here again

Room tip: There aren't any. The noise from the city centre can be heard anywhere.

Dear TravellinVin,

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations, please accept my sincere apologies.

Following your feedback after your stay, the staff members who you dealt with on the first night have been spoken to as the situation was dealt with poorly. We could not move your room on the first night because the hotel was quite full and there were no rooms available of the room type requested. This was promptly done in the morning when the rooms became available.

In regards to the listing on GrabOne, the kitchenette and view is provided subject to availability as not all rooms have one. All rooms have Sky TV, so I am unsure about the comment about no Sky TV.

To remedy your issue, we went out of the way to provide you a full refund via GrabOne. I am sorry again that your stay was not up to your expectations and I hope you will give us another opportunity to better serve you in near future.

Kind regards,

Varun Bhatia
