a very refined Tuscan kitchen , nice variety , good quality , good service . To sit on the balcony for dinner has a romantic touch .
We had such a great lunch here. Even though we came without a booking, we were welcomed in and got a table instantly. The food and wine were excellent as was the service. Upon arrival we received a complimentary glass of their own rose which...was absolutely delicious. We bought a bottle to take home with us from the downstairs wine shop.More
One of our best meals in Tuscany in a beautiful restaurant. We sat out on the deck under the canopy with glimpses of stars and the rustic stone walls of the few buildings. Wine from their vineyard was gorgeous especially the surprising white Chardonnay (the...only white they make) and the service was friendly, knowledgeable and proud of what they were offering. Sage ravioli was delicious. I would return to this area of Tuscany again just to eat here and next time visit their wineryMore
This is a stunning restaurant in a stunning setting. You can just imagine that you are living in this wonderful palazzo and being served on the second level terrace overlooking the vines and olive groves. The food is wonderful and most of the produce comes...from the Market garden on the property. There are lovely homemade pastas and the menu changes as the produce does. There was a wonderful carrot and Zucchini soufflé with pecorino sauce for a starter. There is something for everyone with vegetarian options available. The desserts are fabulous. The staff are charming and efficient and pace the meal accordingly and as you would on a Tuscan Terrace. A good wine list from the attached Winery and lovely property olive oil. A beautiful afternoon experience.More
A lover of great food and wine and this restaurant did not disappoint. Amazing 3 course lunch at reasonable price and portion size. Picturesque surroundings paired with lovely service. A must stop if your in the Chianti region.
As we love to travel and love fine wines as well, Tuscany is a must-go destination. Have had a meal here for approx 10 times, there hasn't been a single disappointment. Service is in senior hands, the wine list offers lots of recent and older...vintages at global retail prices. Food comes from a truely Tuscan master chef, do not expect haute cuisine but do expect superior ingredients, veggie and meat, with each dish displaying honesty and transparency.More
Castello di Ama was our first foray out into the Chianti Classico region from our villa near Siena. It's only a 25 minute drive from Colombaio where we were staying. My wife and I had lunch at Ristoro di Ama and were very pleased with...the food, the service and the wines. I had the gnocchi with meat ragu and my wife had the lasagna, both prepared impeccably, full of rich flavors and presented with flare. We paired our dishes with one of the Ama Chianti Riservas, 2014 (I think that's the correct vintage). Perfect pairing for an enjoyable afternoon at Castello di Ama where we also purchased several bottles of their wine. Our waitress was attentive and very helpful. When the chef came out to greet us she interpreted. There's also a small chapel and art exhibit on the grounds that you can peruse. I recommend Castello di Ama as a choice for dining and wine tasting in the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany.More
This was an absolute perfect meal!! The only bummer is that we did not eat lunch there and take advantage of the perfect views. It is probably better to eat there during the day and take advantage of their wine/art tour.
We made an email reservation for lunch about a month in advance because we wanted an outdoor table on the terrace. When we visited, in early October, many tables were available so we could have easily walked in as well. Once seated outdoors, we were...suprised to find that the terrace didn't have a view, as other's have stated in their reviews. The terrace had an internal view of the hamlet buildings with white drapery blocking the intense sun. Even in October the sun was blaring hot, too hot to sit outside at midday. We requested to move inside and were quickly accomodated. The indoor dining area is split up into many lovely rooms decorated with modern touches. We loved the juxtaposition of the extremely old historic castle decorated with modern lighting, furniture, fabrics, etc. The lunch menu was great; so many items to choose from. We wanted to order them all! Outstanding dishes were the lasagna and beef cheeks stewed in red wine. Oh, and the wine is incredible! We each ordered different wines by the glass to accompany our lunch because we wanted to sample them all. After lunch, we went down to the Enoteca to try a glass of the L'apparita, which we shared overlooking the vineyard. The Enoteca faces the vineyard, however, the lunch terrace did not. Definitely save time to stroll around the tiny medieval hamlet. It's it truly gorgeous!. The experience was first class and we will definitely go back on our next trip to Chianti Classico region. It was one of the top memorable meals of our trip. Also, you can buy candles and room frangrances in the Enoteca Shop to take home! This restaurant is not for the tourist masses; it's a unique experience!More
We stayed in one of the houses in this small village and decided to give this restaurant a try. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The food is just amazing and I certainly loved their tiramisu. Highly recommend if you are in the area...and worth the trouble to find it (apple and google maps were able to take us there without hiccups)More
This Castello is not the easiest to find. I always seem to come in from the back side which involves an interesting drive up a steep dirt road. The other way to get in is much more normal. The search is worth it. We have...lunch here every year and it always is stupendous. The service is superb, the dishes are delicious and absolutely fresh. It is somewhat small, but you feel like you are a prince eating in your castle. Put it on your list for Tuscany!More
We had a delightful lunch in this beautiful and stylish restaurant and were happy to discover that the food is as equally impressive as the Castello di Ama wines. Service is professional and attentive and we will happily return.
This restaurant in the wine estate of Ama is a gem. The views are beautiful, I know because it is on my running route. In Summer you can dine on their beautiful terrace and in Winter you can cosy up in front of their lovely...fire with an aperitivo before having lunch or dinner. The staff are friendly and so helpful whether it be for couples or families and nothing is too much trouble, if your children are playing up its fine for the staff they will try and calm things down. I say this because our family noticed a couple struggling with their two children who were bored at the Italian lunch experience, clearly not used to long lunches and socialising - so listen up parents this is an education for children to understand that lunches should be enjoyed with conversation and not rushed. The food is traditional tuscan but wonderful flavours and the Wild Boar Ragu was loved by my three children as was the pappa pomodoro (a tomato soup with bread soaked in it)More
This was our lunch break during a tour of a few wineries in the Chianti Classico area. It was a very good choice. We took the tasting menu, which includes a few of their wines. We had some dietary restrictions (group of 10 people) which...they accommodated. Service was very good as was the food. Try this place!More
