Attentive service and great precautions at 1920. Traditional dishes, an informal convivial atmosphere - the perfect getaway in Johannesburg / Sandton varely 10 / 15 minutes away close to Hyde Park corner.

Despite multiple requests to take basic COVID transmission risk precautions the restaurant refused and, in fact, made the situation worse

Amazing staff and amazing food. This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at when we visit Johannesburg.

This is truly a fantastic restaurant! Quaint setting and smaller than the bigger one in Hyde Park. Food is fantastic! Highly recommended

A vibey restaurant with really good food. The only problem we had is we ordered ice cream and chocolate sauce for desert. The ice cream arrived followed by a bottle of Illovo chocolate sauce! Not the done thing!

I came to the 1920 restaurant on Wednesday, I had a late lunch, the staff was great and the meal was amazing. The road had a leak so one had to move to another table. But what really left a bad taste is to watch...the owner walking pass my table not once or twis, never once did he come to my table to ask how was the meal,saw him go to all other tables. One needs to be very careful of that, as you never know who is seating in your dining room.More

We met friends for a double birthday celebration. Super to have an authentic Portuguese menu with lots of traditional dishes. A refreshing change from the usual fair or inflated pretense of good food. Staff friendly and inviting. A few suggestions: 1. A heads up, tea...totallers also like to see a drinks menu, nowhere could one see a list of non alcoholic beverages 2. Our order was wrong, asked for salmon well cooked and it arrived seared instead; asked for vegetables and did not get them; had to repeat our food order with 2 different waiters. Not the service I was expecting from 1920 3. 2 of the meals arrived for 2 people and 10 minutes later the other 2 dishes arrived for the remaining 2 people. I would have preferred for the 4 of us to eat together. Again not what I expected from 1920More

My inlaws were in town and wanted to take us somewhere nice for dinner. We chose 1920 and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was excellent. The food was absolutely delicious. My mother in law is gluten intolerant and the staff took this seriously. We...will definitely be back. Thank you 1920 for a wonderful evening.More
