Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This restaurant seems to be well known to westeners and during my two trips to China I had the opportunity to go there. The first time was during December 2018 and the second during spring 2019. The restaurant is on a upper floor of a...building and it is a bit dark but usually quite crowded with people. The menu is definitely chinese with a good selection of dishes to try. I remember that both me and my colleagues, in both occasions, ended up trying different dishes and let each other taste them and they were all fantastic. I remember enjoying the food as I have never done it and finally understand how authentic chinese food should taste! The service was impeccable, the prices were probably reasonably (I don't think I reacted on them) and the restaurant definitely made an impression as five years after I still remember both evenings with pleasure, although I do not recall the details about what I ate, which is a pity.More

Unbelievably good food at a reasonable price. I actually impressed the head of Fudan's (2nd to 4th ranked University in China) Graduate Tax Program as well as one of their esteemed International Tax instructors from their law school. I would say that this restaurant accomplished...the most impossible, a foreigner impressing two distinguished Chinese in their own country with Chinese cuisine.More

Good option next to the bund and mainly catering tourists/non Chinese people. Food is good, clean and service is fast. Price is , naturally, very high compared to other options in the city

We have been here many times in the past and were happy to learn that the place had survived the pandemic and even happier to find that the ambience is as good and the food as delicious as ever. The perfectly crispy ghost chicken salad...is our new favourite now. The only issue with visiting the Gaoyou Rd branch is that it's often extremely difficult to get a taxi back. You either have to wait for an hour or so or pay handsomely for a private car.More

The food was great. A mixture of styles from across Asia that’s prepared with care and precision - there are some really unique flavour combinations that should make it to the top of your list of visiting Shanghai. I could see why the restaurant was...full. Service was good although perhaps a little on the extra efficient side for my taste but overall a fantastic restaurant.More

Interesting dining place near The Bund. Seems popular for tourists and also convenient for people who are walking around the area Food is average and beer is considered more expensive than normal restaurants The toilet has an interesting design! See for yourself when you are...washing your hands!More

VERY ordinary food. One stir fried dish arrived cold and we sent it back. Other dishes we either had to beg for or NEVER CAME at all. Nonexistent service. Noisy.

I love Lost Heaven. You can eat your way along the Silk Road! So suits a group who may prefer more Indian influenced flavours as well as Chinese food. Top tip - if you go with just 2 of you, choose maybe 4-6 dishes and...then 'da bao' (Take home) the rest and dinner is then sorted for the rest of the family / tomorrow!More

The place seems to have been deserted. It probably used to be good, but there were a very few customers. The room and the decoration look good, but the menu doesn't feel authentic. The music didn't match the idea of Yunnan. The taste is average,...the price is quite high.More

Their food is okay. A bit overrated ONLY if you tried the other Yunan restos. For first-timers, the food is still impressive. Yunan food is always good anyway. This branch has been there for more than a decade in the french concession. A nice walk...in the area after eating in the resto will be good. The ambiance in Lost Heaven is classy and cozy but the Yunan food in Lotus in ding xi road and the new resto Secret haven in Jing An is better, more choices, more authentic, and cheaper. It's only good to bring them for yunan food in Lost Heaven for more intimate and formal events...or to impress.More

I first try Lost Heaven on my first stay in SH in 2012 and found it amazing. The interiors are unique and the food is good. I then moved to BJ and kept going to Lost Heaven there as I liked the concept. I just...moved back to Shanghai and decided to go back and see if it was still there... and there it was indeed! I was so happy...until I got the menu. Lots of overpriced dishes which, mostly, are not even Yunnan. Some are Thai food wannabes many others are just western dishes (cod with tomato sauce for instance). Please, you were doing a very good job with your Yunnan/Northern Thai dishes, why adding something that clearly doesn't belong? And then there are the prices. I mean, I go to Michelin restaurants 2-3 times per year and I'm happy to pay those prices because I know what I get in return, but here? 30 U$ for a grilled chicken? 10U$ for 8 mediocre jiaozi? I can get 10 high quality ones in Ding Tai Fong for less... Anyway, great disappointment, it seemed they were trying to make up for the lost business by overcharging their dishes.More

Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly

is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While
it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will
