Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We always visit this restaurant when we come to Genova, and we’ve always enjoyed our time there. This time it was a different experience. Firstly, I’d like to clarify that the waitress was lovely and friendly; however the pizza ordered by my daughter was awful....It had so much cheese it was kind of rubbery. The panna cotta had too much coconut it tasted like sand. But the worse of all was the absolutely rube old lady at the till. They gave us the bill for the all table, which is fine, but they didn’t let us pay for what we ordered. We had to split the bill in equal part, which was unfair as one of us only had a starter and a coffee. Another person had 2 starters, two dessert, wine and soft drinks. Two of us just met, so it was a bit of an uncomfortable experience as we all paid by card, and had no cash with us. Additionally, this’s not an area where you can easily find an ATM to give some money to the unfortunate person that only had a starter and a coffee but ended up paying for other people food. It’d have been different if we were all close friends or family, but we just met today!! The till old hag attitude was appallingly as she was talking quite loudly and aggressively. There were people behind us queuing to pay so we just did as told and left. We ended up apologising to the others, and will never go back to that place again. It was only 4 of us, so it would’ve been easy enough to split the bill accordingly. We could’ve done the maths for her if this was the issue. Overall, a significantly unpleasant experience. Total disappointmentMore

One of the best pizzas I have ever had! Plus the location is just great, at the top of Genova on Righi, views are awesome and there are also plenty of trekking routs.

The sign on the door said “Open, please come in!” My two sisters and I walked in and were greeted with a friendly “buongiorno” by a man, but when I turned to the older lady at the host stand and held up 3 fingers to...indicate we wanted a table for three, I was told that it was “impossible.” The restaurant was empty, with the exception of diners at two other tables. There was plenty of wait staff. We left and came back 20 minutes later, to catch the faniculare back down. I watched the old wench seat a party of three, who were white, so the obvious conclusion we have drawn is that they wouldn’t seat us because we are Asian? Whatever, we’ll spend our euros elsewhere. 🙄More

Dear customer, when you arrived at the restaurant, the seats were all booked and it was not possible for us to welcome other people, this is the only reason why your request was refused. Your conclusions are hasty and incorrect: we have no problem with...More

Basically they give you a slot in which you are supposed to come, eat and leave. So after that slot the whole bunch of customers leave and the new shift is queuing outside. We got told off by the a pretty arrogant guy at the...entrance as we came late to our slot for which our friends were already inside and had already ordered for us. We still had more than one hour for everything. Nice view, good pizza but the overall experience was pretty negative. This is mass-feeding, so every customer is just a number, so we don't feel inspired to return. Some waiters/waitresses were really kind and sorry for what had happened.More

We were a larger group having different kind of pizzas for dinner. We used the funicular to get up and down. The view is great over the Genoa bay. We tried 3 different kinds of pizza. One made out of cheek pea flower, one with...only cheese and then 2m of pizza with 8 flavors. The complete experience was great. It is. A casual place.More

We decided to get the funicular railway it was Sunday lunchtime, and as we were in Italy, we were pretty certain that there would be a restaurant at the top. We liked the look of the Montallegro so we thought why not. The staff were...friendly and efficient and humoured our broken Italian and the food was excellent. We shared a a light and delicious baccalà soufflé for antipasti, and I had wild boar pappardelle and my partner had ravioli with walnut sauce both were excellent. Other guests seemed to be getting generous plates of farinata, and just as we were wondering if some would come our way, the waiter appeared with ours. With a half litre of vino rosso, Aqua frizzante and coffee the bill came to €37.50, which was great value - the delicious farinata was free. The restaurant has an incredible panoramic view and was pretty full. Most diners were eating pizza by the metre which seem to be going down well. A great find, and made for the highlight of an excellent day exploring the upper reaches of this beautiful city.More

From the very beginning, the crew was very accommodating and friendly, we had a group of 19. We were seated promptly and service was immediate. Despite there being several large groups dinning, our glasses were never empty and the food was served with little waiting...time. Highly recommend their farinata which is made fresh so it takes a little bit of a wait, but worth it. We are looking forward to our next visit with Roberta and her very attentive staff. It was a wonderful experience.More

the restaurant is very nice, even if the peculiarity is the pizza by the meter, served on very special trays. The terrace overlooks a wonderful view of Genoa and at night the lights of the city are extraordinary. I have eaten here recommended by friends.

I had one of the best pizzas and one of the best lunches ever. I arrived at the time of their opening, and was pleased to find out that I was not the only customer. As a matter of fact, most of the tables had...already been reserved. I was probably the only lucky one without reservation to have table with a view over the city. Stylish place with lots of friendly staff. And the food: it was tasty and unexpectedly affordable. This place seems to rely on its reputation, and I can understand why. Overall excellent!More
