Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are several cafeterias/counter-service restaurants at Montserrat. However, the buffet is the winner. As a family with many dietary restrictions, it provided food for everyone. While a bit pricey (18 Euros), it's worth it. Food ranged from paella to salads to proteins. They even offered...wine, beer and soda.More

I wish I had read some of these reviews before going there as hindsight is a wonderful thing. The wait for the chips and calamari was not worth it and is time we will never get back. Lukewarm chips (that had just come out of...the fryer ..yes really) and calamari that could have given an elastic band a run for its money. I could have avoided the indigestion. Eat beforehand or bring your own food would be the best advice. Such a shame because Catalonia has such great food.More

if you eat meat, you could have a good meal - for instance sausage or even chicken, with French fries, do not invent something new if you are vegetarian, you could have a problem; avoid pasta and beans you could have a good beer, and...a fresh coffee; even a good wine so, do not forget this is a buffet food restaurant, fit your expectations with that; the result would be a decent mealMore

Cheap food at tourist prices, very low quality, and tastes awful. The Cappunino was horrible. The cashier is slow and the tables were not cleaned. The floor was filthy. Not many options, unfortunately. At least tips are not required in Europe. Eat in Barcelona before...going to Monserrat or take some sandwiches with you.More

Disgraceful food and slow slow service. Would not suggest anyone go there. My wife described the food as pig swill. Pretty close.

Service was so intent on ignoring customers that three different people had to shout at her repeatedly that her milk was boiling over. When she finally stopped ignoring them she had to clean up the mess, which added to the already considerable waiting time. The...show was worth it though. The milk was still considered good enough to be put in coffee. The food I eventually got was edible, though only slightly warm.More

I wasn't expecting much seeing as restaurants that are included in tourist attractions tend to be extremely overpriced but it overall wasn't bad! I had a half roast chicken and chips, it was nothing to write home about but very reasonably priced and I got...plenty of meat on my chickenMore

Bring your own meal or eat somewhere else. This could be one of the worst meal I have ever had. The fries tasted like it has been fried 3 times. Dry and oily. The fish and pasta also tasteless. Avoid this place. One good thing...is that the staff members were very friendlyMore

This is a decent place for lunch while visiting the Monastery. Occasionally you will find long lines, but that what happens at tourist places. The food was good.

I bought two lattes, when I get to the table I notice both are very cold, when I went to tell the lady preparing them I was sent to the microwave to heat them. Awful attention.

We had two hours in Montserrat and planned poorly as far as meals went. Of the two hours in Montserrat about 40 minutes was taken up by our tour guide, which was fine, 20 minutes given to the museum (way too rushed), and then almost...all the rest of the time standing in line for the Cafeteria food. We had to eat fast to get back on the bus in time. We did go during a holiday week (Jan 2nd), but in such an amazing place I would probably say, plan ahead for food so you aren't starving there at your only food break for the day, so that you can see the sights. I, personally, would have just skipped the meal and gone hungry the rest of the day in order to see the rest of Montserrat, but I wasn't traveling alone, and my husband wanted food... So we spent our time in an actual cafeteria. The food was definitely not bad. It wasn't something I recommend going out of your way for, but it was at least good food for having that be our main meal for most of the day. If you are short on time at Montserrat, don't eat here. Plan ahead, bring a lunch, eat on the way, eat a big breakfast, go hungry if you can, but it is not where anyone should spend their precious time in such a beautiful place. I would take it back if I could. No fault of the staff, or the business, which is why I still gave average stars.More

Very long queue to pay though not visiting in peak season. The pasta was extremely bland and outright bad. The chicken was completely dry. Everything was also cold from waiting in line. Couldn't finish it, and I use to eat almost everything! Though not very...expensive it was still outrageously not worth the money. If anywhere else is open at the monastery, please go there. I wish I had.More

As the name says, it's a cafeteria. Food was average, still we had a sausage that was really tasteful. Still, it's a cafeteria.

This was included in our combination ticket and it was a pretty good meal. We've been to many cafeterias at National Parks in the U.S. and this food is far and away better than anything we've ever eaten there. We had plenty of options and...were overall pleased with our meal. If you need a place where everyone will be happy, this is it.More

It was lunch time during our tour, so our guide gave us an hour of free time. For my brother and me, this meant chow down, And we did not have to worry about finding our group again, because the Cafeteria was on the major...road by the monastery, i.e., you cannot be a lost tourist here. The cafeteria was pretty crowded, and vegetarian items were limited, so we grabbed a snack, a couple of nice cold beers, and sat at an outside table. It offered views of people, the monastery and activities. Everybody around us seemed to enjoy their meals and loved to talk.It made for a pleasant lunch.More
