Been here many times over the last 16 years and I enjoy this place even with it's many problems. A large seven storey hotel on the edge of the town. It is separated from the main entertainment area by a busy main road It was super packed out on my arrival with local pensioners and groups of screaming youngsters. I was lucky enough to be on the top floor so it was a little quieter in my room. There is a pool for summer and a large restaurant area for eating. Packages can come with all inclusive or just some meals like my half board. Food was acceptable for the money paid with a cooked breakfast buffet and an array of dishes for the other meals The rooms are the best part for me, a good size bedroom and bathroom. A full size bath with shower and a hair dryer. The bedroom included a TV, air-conditioning, a safe, balcony and two double beds. There were plugs by the beds and a bonus desk with large mirror. Wardrobe and draw space were reasonable.

Firstly I would like to say how friendly and helpful the reception staff were, and how everything seemed to be well managed and clean. However, it has to be the most noisy hotel we have every stayed in, with nowhere to escape to as there are no quieter areas anywhere. Even in our room, although very clean and comfortable, there was no escape, because of the lack of sound-proofing from adjacent rooms and corridors. (Take earplugs). The food at both breakfast and dinner was very good, with a wide variety of choices, but the buffet and dining area was so noisy and chaotic, it took away a lot of enjoyment. It wasn't the sort of hotel we would normally stay in, but we were part of a group. I didn't expect there would be so many school parties staying there, which didn't help with the overall noise levels.

Dear Guest, Thanks for your review about our hotel. We're delighted to hear that you found our reception staff friendly and helpful, and that you appreciated the cleanliness and management of our establishment. It's also great to know that you enjoyed the variety and quality of food at our breakfast and dinner services. We are, however, concerned to learn about the noise levels you experienced during your stay. While we strive to ensure all guests have a comfortable experience, it appears we did not meet your expectations in this area. The hotel's structure is designed to provide a lively and engaging atmosphere, which is usually appreciated by our visitors, especially given the range of entertainment options we offer throughout the day. We regret that this aspect did not contribute positively to your stay. We have indeed undertaken soundproofing improvements in some of our rooms and are evaluating the possibility of extending this to more areas to enhance our guests' comfort. We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you again in the future. Best wishes, Reme Páez, Directora H TOP Calella Palace

We found reception very helpful, unfortunately the staff in the dining room not so pleasant .we were entitled to wine at dinner time. But a member of the serving staff found it to be rude in her attitude in giving us wine. She decide to plonk in down on the table at the other end. Found it strange you had to pay for using the security safe..Nice hotel especially for younger customers, it was noisy at some times in the evening. Also some of the younger children in the hotel found it amusing by knocking on the doors and running away.

I stayed here when the October fest was on for a long weekend, with my husband and son. The hotel was quiet at first then became very busy. The restaurant staff ,cleaners and reception staff were amazing. They were very friendly and helpful. The older gentleman behind the bar was a bit grumpy trying to explain how to use the bar card's. ,I suppose it became repetitive to him having to explain to every holiday maker(Understandable) Rooms cleaned everyday food was amazing something for everyone ,Walls very thin so you can hear everything ,lucky enough it wasn't too rowdy whilst we were there .I would recommend this hotel for a peaceful chill. Lovely holiday. Calella a beautiful place. Thank you all staff much appreciated.

The hotel is very dated and needs a refurb. The room was small; for 2 adults and 2 teens we had 2 double beds. Very poor that the all inclusive finishes at 12 on your departure day, especially as we were not told of this. Food good but got repetitive. Individual portions a good idea always hot but nothing special and no themed nights. Activity team very good and even more helpful than the absent Jet2 rep. Daytime bar staff are rude and ignorant they didnt even speak to you when you went to the bar. The bar staff who worked at night were much more friendlier and generally nicer. Transfer to and from the airport is via the sister hotel down the road. Jet2 don't pick up due to the street conditions. You have to make your own way. Every other tour company that stay here do.

We have been to Calella Palace 5 times previously and always enjoyed our stay and couldn't wait to return, this time, were 5 days in of a 10 day holiday and cant wait to go home! We last came in April 2022 & decided to have a change so we went to the Olympic across the road in July 2022 which was ok and then we tried Benidorm for the next year or so. We originally booked for the Olympic again but after reading the reviews we changed the hotel to the Palace (which we now regret) We arrived on Thursday 12th October and check in was nice and smooth, we was greeted by Isobel and it was nice to see the other 2 men (sorry I'm not good at remembering lots of names) on reception who had been here on previous stays. HTOP still operate on All Inclusive cards system which is simple enough but would be soooo much easier with Bands as we experienced in Benidorm. We got to our room on the 6th floor and as requested, we had a pool view. The room is fine itself, comfy beds, lots of storage space and a big enough bathroom with a nice size vanity for all your bits and bobs. We had a problem with the TV which was fixed the next morning. TV also has 5 english channels which is an upgrade as previous years it only had 1. The rooms could do with soundproofing though, you can hear literally EVERYTHING, from underneath you on the toilet, upstairs singing in the shower, next door 1 side scraping the chairs every 5 minutes and heels clicking and the other side which i can only describe as a goat having an orgasm. Now to the bad parts...... The food has gone way downhill, we are in no way picky eaters but most days there is funky fish dishes or plain pasta which has the consistency of rubber with sauces. They have table with a selection of Salads & Soup (most days is vegetable). Breads and Buns. Then the next table which is desserts, again didn't take my fancy as all mostly looked the same like creme brulee or rice pudding. Not many cakes ( i would've loved to have a nice slice of chocolate cake) and Jelly which i had 1 cube of and was like rubber. The next table is your mains which as i said mostly consists of fish dishes. Don't get me wrong there was meats some nights but even then the meat was pink and by the time you ask the chef to cook it a little longer, either your other foods gone cold or your partners finished their plate. And then at the end there was show cooking which some nights had meat but mostly its fish. We spent more money going to either Burger king or McDonalds for tea than on anything else They should also think of ways to keep out the flies, they're on the food, tables and even land on your head. Your constantly wafting them away from you. Next the Drinks. It was nice to see the familiar faces of Aziz and Oskar behind the bar and the ever so grumpy Pedro (I've only ever gotten 1 smile from him and that was from last year) The spirits though must be watered down or something because you don't even get tipsy from drinking them, I had to buy a bottle of Amaretto from the supermarket for pre-drinks in our room before going down. AND they don't even have Dissarano or Amaretto in the bar which i was gutted about. The entertainment is absolute poo. I know its a family hotel but the whole nights entertainment mostly revolves around kids. Night time doesn't start until 9pm and then finishes at 11pm. Most 9pm starts was Kids mini disco or Balloon making and then at 10pm you either have Bingo, Quiz or DJ. There was one night of a Jamaican Dance show which we had seen previous years and was looking forward to it but it looked like the 2 girls in the group just pulled in 2 old fellas off the street and made them learn the dance moves within 2 hours because the fellas wasn't doing the same dances as each other and frankly looked like they couldn't be arsed with the whole thing. Another problem we had was with the kitchen staff, when we went into the restaurant we would scan our AI card which enables us to get food and that's fine but then we would have ladies who clean the tables coming up to us asking to see our AI cards but would never ask anyone else so i started to wonder why they was specifically picking us out. 1 or 2 times is fine but when it happened a third, i decided to make a complaint which again was resolved as we wasn't asked again, so thank you again reception staff for that. And then with the sweets machine in the lobby....i put in €1.50 to get a bounty and nothing came out, i tried other sweets but nothing, so i went to reception again and he explained that the machine doesn't work when the indoor shop is closed which i find ridiculous. Why have a vending machine in the lobby if you cant use it certain times, why not put it in the shop? Or at least switch it off so people don't put their money in just to loose it (yeah, they cant open it to give you your chocolate or give you your money back). On the plus side, the staff are lovely and go above and beyond to help if you have problems. The cleaning ladies are great, they come in every morning (if you want them to) and they will replace your towels and give everything a clean. The mercadona supermarket is just on the corner and then the main shopping strip is a 10 minute walk also to the beach too, which unfortunately we haven't been able to visit yet due to the weather. Also hoping to visit the light house. I love Calella town just because of the Authentic Spanish vibe you get when your here and how peaceful it is but unfortunately i wouldn't return back to this hotel or any other HTOP as it looks like they all have the same problems.

The hotel is lovely and clean and the rooms are too with comfortable beds and storage space for your clothes. The staff are friendly and welcoming too. The choice of food is plentiful …if you are a meat eater! Breakfast was not a problem as there were cereals and pastries but lunch and dinner were difficult as there were few vegetarian choices and some days none unless you count the salad, chips and pasta which was always available. I sent an email to htop asking why there couldn’t be at least one vegetarian main option at each meal but despite the web site saying they reply to all queries they have yet to reply. Two weeks of eating basically the same meals twice a day when we paid the same as other holiday makers seems unfair. That said the hotel is close to the beach and shops and Calella is a lovely town.

Pros: Rooms are large, cleaned daily and beds are comfortable. Water is amazingly hot and toiletries provided. Huge bar/ entertainment area with full programme of events. Good selection of food at every mealtime. Pleasant staff. Rooftop area with 3 jacuzzis very pleasant. Cons: Everywhere is very NOISY. There appears to be no soundproofing between rooms so you can hear everything (!!) going on in rooms around - conversations, actions (sex), wardrobe doors and drawers banging, bathroom activities, room doors slamming at all hours. I didn't sleep well the whole week. It was like being in a huge dormitory. Plus the restaurant was mind-blowingly noisy, it was hard to hear yourself think. I really wanted to stand up & shout "shut up"! Obviously this wasn't the fault of the staff but perhaps a few signs requesting guests to be respectful of others may help. Conclusion: Nice enough hotel within easy distance of beach and main shopping centre. But don't be fooled into thinking Spa in the name means restful and relaxing. It isn't and therefore sadly we we will cross it off our list
