My family of 4 stayed for a weekend to tour CMU (my son is in high school). We were really looking forward to using the pool during our downtime, but it was closed for maintenance. I really would have appreciated a heads up on this, because I would have found a different place to stay. Overall, the hotel was fine. It was clean, with modern furnishings, and provided free breakfast. We had a king room with pull out couch. The 2-queen room was over $100 more per night! The pull out couch was less than ideal - when pulled out, there was no room to get around it to the other side; the mattress was unbearably uncomfortable and left me with a sore back the whole next day; and the blankets provided were paper thin. The room included an impressive kitchenette with all sorts of utensils for cooking in, including a cooktop, large minifridge, and dishwasher. We didn't really use much of it, but it was nice and well-stocked. The bathroom was very clean but did not include a fan. The shower was tiled and very large. There was not much soundproofing between the bathroom and the rest of the hotel room, so everything going on in the bathroom could be heard in the rest of the room. Parking was $24/day with unlimited in/out privileges. I would have much preferred this to be part of the room rate, but maybe that's not how things go in Pittsburgh. The complimentary breakfast had many choices: meat (sausage one morning, bacon the next), eggs, potatoes (mini potato pancakes one morning, breakfast potatoes the next), oatmeal, several cereals, milk, juice, water, coffee, bagels, bread, and more. There were many condiments such as honey, peanut butter, syrup, sugar-free syrup, butter, and cream cheese. There was also fresh fruit - both whole (apples, bananas, oranges) as well as fruit salad (a mixture of cut up cantaloupe, pineapple, etc). I'm not sure I would stay here again. It was nice to be close to CMU, but it was not quite close enough to walk, so we still had to pay for parking not only at the hotel, but on/near campus as well. Considering we had to drive to our destination anyway, in the future I would choose a hotel a little farther out with complimentary parking and/or a lower rate.…
