We enjoyed the smallest accommodation that was described when we went searching for a place to vacation for a winter week - the Studio Villa at Westgate Vacation Villas. This room was described as sleeping 4, but the description should be amended to read that it sleeps 2 adults comfortably and then that this room maybe can accommodate 2 adults who can sleep together in one double bed and 2 very well behaved children, who will share the other double bed. Hey, nobody claimed that this room was their top of the line. LOL! This room has no frills but we were prepared. We had done our homework and had decided to no longer waste lots of money on frills that we no longer needed, like that 2nd bathroom or jacuzzi bathtub! We had saved at least $500.00 by booking this Studio Villa for a week (7 nights), and we were going to put that money to good use- eating and drinking and sunning ourselves, all by ourselves! Our Villa provided several great surprises. Our entrance was ground floor with secure parking, motel style, immediately in front of our front door. Our Villa shared a washer and a dryer with our next door neighbors, and both machines were in "like-new" condition and located in the secured common hallway that we shared only with these neighbors (who we never saw or heard). We had packed extremely light for this vacation, intending to not do much, but having a washer and dryer practically to ourselves all week, was a great luxury amenity. Another surprise was the size of our bathroom. No floor space was wasted on a giant jacuzzi bathtub that we never used anyway. Instead we had an excellent walk-in shower with plenty of room for doing everything that you needed to do, including bending over and picking up that bar of soap. The shower was built so that there was a great 6 inch ledge around one wall, so you could conveniently stow away your shower stuff without the need of a shower caddy hanging from the shower head. The shower was also very well lit from a dedicated ceiling light fixture. The hot water was hot enough and the water pressure was adequate for removing soap and shampoo. Our bathroom also had a giant, full size vanity with solid surface counter top, full size mirror, full size sink, and lots of drawer and under counter cabinet space. The bath also came equipped with a hair dryer in like-new condition, and with a wall mounted make up magnifying mirror and with an efficient exhaust fan! The undercounter storage included 3 rolls of additional toilet paper! There were also pool towels and bath towels that were fluffier than most towels that I have encountered in hotels where I have paid much more! My only negative of the bathroom space was about the toilet. It was, sad to say, at a child's height above the floor. My wife and I both suffer from bad knees as it is. This problem gave us a good deal of pain as our week wore on. Our Studio came equipped with a kitchenette as described. It had an 8 cup coffeemaker which had not been included in the room description, with a pack of coffee and filter, enough to make 2 cups of decent coffee. Our kitchenette also had a tiny but very valuable kitchen sink and an above sink set of cabinets, with a table service for 4 people, including wine glasses! Another surprise was the TV! Our TV was wide enough for viewing from either bed and it had cable so we enjoyed plenty of variety, although a lot of the stations broadcast in Spanish! Sadly, our room did not have a DVD Player, which had been included in the list of amenities that we had studied. This was a disappointment. Problems during our week included being unable to connect to the internet, being unable to use the freezer in our refrigerator (completely full of frost), being unable to enjoy the hot tub in our private pool area (never hot, always mild) and being unable to get the propane grill in our private pool area to work all week (we gave up after the 5th call for help!). Would I come back? Yes I would. This was great value and we spent all of the money that we had saved by booking this modest room for the week at most of the bars and restaurants at the Westgate Vacation Villas. We especially enjoyed the Super Bowl Party. BTW, If any TA Members have any questions, post me back. I will be happy to share our experiences with you .... good and bad!…
