This four-star hotel prides itself on a rich family history reaching all the way back to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The name itself indicates the style and quality of the hotel's services - Royal Ricc offers a cosy and romantic environment with royal services.. I feel I have to review this hotel as it was booked by friends based on reviews. Well there is a history I am sure the main building from 1560 but the staff has not the knowlege nor the will to even try to spyce a bit of history. This is a quiet clean hotel there is not a bar nor resturant, only a breakfast room. There is a coffee machine in the room but no coffee and excet. I can only give this hotel three stars.

We are REALLY unhappy with this property. There were several dogs barking, jumping up, and growling at us in the reception area. The key to the safe was 'missing.' We were told to buy our own milk. So the tea and coffee facilities aren't tea and coffee facilities at all. The bed was horrendous, hard as nails. When we mentioned these issues, the receptionist shrugged. We left!

The Royal Ricc is centred right in the heart of Brno just off Zelny Trh (Vegetable Market). Both cathedral and castle are within easy walking distance as is the railway station. The reception area has a fine vaulted ceiling - setting the tone of the historic rooms above. I had a spacious front facing room - with painted ceiling overlooking the street and an outside bar opposie, I was worried about street noise late at night -but the sound proofing is very effective as I heard no outside noise. The bed was very comfortable and the en suite bathroom (with bath) was great. Breakfast is standard buffet fare - more than enough to set me up for the day. Disliked · more plugs in the room, and the lighting could be better if you wanted to ead for a long time (but why would you as the city is fanastic)

Once we got to the Royal Ricc, we were VERY happy. EXCELLENT location that was an easy walk to SO much (well, except to parking). The rooms were as beautiful as advertised and the beds were quite comfortable for sleeping. The breakfast was solid ... not bad but nothing to excite one (but no complaints). Most of the staff spoke some English so interacting with them wasn't an issue if you spoke no Czech. My ONLY complaint about them was that on several occasions, I wrote to them for assistance on various topics and response was quite slow or even non-existent. Bear in mind that this a traditional Old World hotel (as in you leave your key at the front desk on your way out and picked it up on your return) but usually these are the ones with top notch service to help them stand out. But would I return to stay there if I were in Brno? Probably so.

the room was very charming, even though the lighting was not very good if you wanted to read and the shower not really modern. Good breakfast is served, and the staff is very friendly. Centrally located close to everything.

The hotel has an excellent location in the centre of Brno, the tram stop in the direction of the Main Railway Station is about three minutes walk away. It is located in a historical building with atmosphere, among the four and five-star hotels in the centre of Brno, this is the most affordable. My room and bathroom were well equipped including coffee machine, I missed only a teakettle. All was clean. The breakfast buffet was rich. The hotel had no restaurant or bar, but I didn't miss either, there are plenty of options in the centre of Brno. The staff were helpful and friendly. I have two objections. Most of the 4 and 5 stars hotels nowadays use card to open the rooms, whereas at the Royal Ricc you still lock your room with a key, which you must hand at reception. So, for example, if one forgets something in the room and comes back, has to ask for the key again... But it is not the main trouble. The second objection is more fundamental: When I arrived, it turned out that the elevator wasn't working. My room was supposed to be on the third floor. I couldn't imagine dragging my luggage up the stairs and there was no person in the hotel to help me, only a lady at reception. Eventually she found a room on the ground floor that suited me, it had a view of the courtyard, but I didn't mind, I didn't come to Brno to look out the hotel window. However, I would consider it right and polite that when the hotel knows that the elevator will not run for a longer period of time (which was the case here), they notify the clients in advance so that they can take it into account or make a different decision in time - after all, someone older might not be able to walk to a higher floor even without a luggage.

Very central location; charming room, good breakfast buffet and nice bathroom with everything you might need. Receptionist was very helpful, and fluent in English. Room was a little dark for reading, but apart from that an excellent setup.

It was a pleasant stay in the lovely city of Brno. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom, everything clean. The room decoration is fantastic and the location is near everything in the old town. The only complaint I have is that our room window was on the side of a bar, some noise in the evening, but it did not spoil our stay.

This hotel is in a great location and the breakfasts are very good. The room was very clean. The atmosphere is on the dark and heavy side. My room had a coffee machine but no coffee and the internet didn't work. The receptionist was unconcerned about this and advised me to use the internet in the lobby. I couldn't get the TV to work. The sheets looked like they came from the second-hand store.
