We had a fantastic holiday. Love the hotel. It's authentic and Italian. We had no complaints about the food; there was plenty of choice. The room was immaculately clean and towels and sheets were changed frequently. We weren't affected by noise - there is a main road just outside but we were able to shut the balcony door at night and keep the air con on. The pool was lovely and it was peaceful by the pool. Staff were generally friendly - it helps if you can say a few words in Italian, particularly thank you. The staff work hard - all hours. I sometimes feel embarrassed to be British as the Brits can always find something to complain about. The weather could not have better and we loved the beach. All tourists were polite, friendly and well behaved. The 2K walk to Cefalu old town is lovely. The town itself is beautiful and full of culture and beautiful buildings. There are plenty of places to eat and lots of delicious ice cream and cannoli. I don't know what people want at times. We would give it 4 stars. Depends what you want of course. Might be different when the kids are off school. We went out of school time. Can't wait to go back.

This is rather a 2,9* hotel with very outdated infrastructure. No restaurant a la carte. Just simple food serving hall. Poor breakfasts. The bar is quite nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. “Hotel beach” is about 130 steps and 10 minutes walk away, without any services (bar, toilet etc). The only plus is the view, if you get the room overlooking the sea 😀

In fairness as a couple of empty nesters this wasn't the best choice. If you have young kids you should have a good time. Very noisy everywhere (room, breakfast etc) - seemed to be a Sicilian thing. We stayed over looking the sea, nice balcony lovely view. The downside which we were aware of is you are right by the evening/nightime entertainment. Day time entertainment was poor so we headed to the free beach which was lovely, as mentioned before there are no toilets and is about a 10 min walk . I wouldn't recommended eating there in the evening but breakfast was fine. Cheap supermarket over the road with really good red wines for around 3 euros! Staff at reception helpful, also gelato (amazing) staff friendly, bar staff not so. Nice long walk into Cefalu. Don't do as we did and walk from the train station to the hotel with cases, the pavements come and go and it's an Italian road, just get the bus.

A 4-star hotel that feels more like a 3+. On the plus side, amazing view of Cefalu from the room balcony, decent-sized rooms and large pool, pleasant walk to the pretty town of Cefalu, nice desserts at the cafe. On the other hand, the smallest shower ever, dated rooms and bathroom, mediocre, bland and repetitive food, tables not set up for breakfast, no soup ever, limited and repetitive choices for breakfast, one sad fruit choice per meal, only one sad dessert choice per meal, not both. More than 100 steep steps and a short walk to get to the hotel beach. No beach towels, no toilet, no bar, underwater rocks. But the worst thing about the hotel was the noise. Extremely loud animation around the pool at 10-12, 4-6, 9.30 or so-12. Unbearable. Windows did not help at all. All in Italian, with powerful loudspeakers, maximum volume. Twice during our week-long stay they organised events with loud music in the evening only meters away from the animation. Competing music. Absolutely horrible. We had to plan our days aound animation periods in order to avoid the assault on our ears and nerves. And there are railway tracks right next to the pool and restaurant terrace, close enough to high-five the passengers. Still, incredibly, the noise from the passing trains was nothing compared to the animation noise.

Very rude hotel staff and animators at the pool. Zero willingness to help, taking things from sunbeds to those who don't like them. Making your own rules and not following the rules. The animators talk and exalt themselves over you and the only thing they can do is "keep order" implicitly take other people's things.

I will start off by saying that the rooms were pretty clean (even though really archaic looking) and the towels were changed every day, so I would like to give kudos to the cleaning staff they did a great job. We had some issues at the start since we didn't receive the hotel room which we paid for(sea view , etc). Reception took some time but managed to actually give us a room that we paid for in the same day. The toilet was a bit broken and always slides when you sat down on it (which became pretty annoying and sorta of an acrobatics feet in the mornings). The rooms are pretty old and there weren't that many spots where you can put your packages in (which was not that big of an issue), a bigger issue to me was the fact that the AC Power Plugs/Pockets were very outdated and most of them could not even connect with the plug for my Laptop (it also felt like they were about to break every time you plugged something in). Please keep in mind that they were always animations starting from around 22:00 until 00:00 and if you are someone who cannot sleep when there is a lot of noise around you I suggest taking ear plugs + the train passes by the hotel which adds additional noise (if you want a quiet place to stay this is not it). The food at the restaurant was decent except at our first night when we by some very bad luck tried a pasta that looked like it had grounded beef, but alas it was made with anchovies which made my first meal in Italy one of the worst thing I have ever eaten. The waiters were fast, efficient and helpful when we have asked them about the foods (do not expect ingredients or even the name of the food to be shown anywhere). There was not a lot of food variety and most of it tasted alright and sometimes bland but such was the hotel (the wines were awful tho). The Hotel also has a nice Pasteria which had some pretty good Gelato but an awful Bar (which made one of the worse Spritz and Coffee I have tasted in Italy) and very poor waiter quality (they never did come and offer us to take our order). I cannot really recommend this Hotel since it does have a decent amount of issues and very small positives (forgot to mention that it is around 3 KM to Cefalu from the hotel which is a fine distance but not alright if you are an elderly). If you prefer a quieter place I would suggest going somewhere else.

Sorry to say a very negative experience at Hotel Santa Lucia Le Sabbie d'Oro. Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet our 4 star expectations. The hotel lacks a modern ambiance, and the staff was not friendly or service-minded. Additionally, the rooms experienced issues with plumbing, which is definitely disappointing. Even after requesting a room change, the second room had a distinct tobacco smell, which is unpleasant for non-smokers. Furthermore, our first night was disrupted by noise from neighboring rooms, which is unacceptable for a peaceful stay. It is regrettable that the hotel did not offer any compensation for these inconveniences. Regarding the location, having a train passing outside your window makes it far from a quiet and serene environment. If you are seeking a 4-star experience, I would not recommend this hotel.

We visited Santa Lucia 4 years ago, coming back hoping for the huge gelatos we would get at a really good price. We knew the service was bad, but not this bad. We ordered 3 grande gelatos in a cone and one cup. As the lady was handing us our gelato she intentionally pressed her thumb into each of the cones so hard that they all cracked, and when we asked for the three scooped like we had ordered and payed for she told us that only the grande cup had three scoops and that the cones only had 2. We walked off with our small broken cones and decided after to go and ask about the sizes. We asked a different lady who told us that it was 3 scoops if you pay for grande regardless of cone or cup. We all walked out annoyed and disappointed at the service we received. Deciding that maybe it was just one time and that we should go back again as the food is good and the arancini is amazing (possibly one of the best I’ve tried) we went for lunch. We went to pay at the counter to get our ticket meanwhile one of the lady’s behind was screaming that she had to answer the phone that was ringing, after we got our ticket we went to get our food. At the food counter the lady serving was awful. We had ordered a salmon arancini as well as a few others, but notwithstanding the fact we were all very clear with the arancini we wanted, the man had written on the ticket that they were all the same price, €2. They weren’t. The salmon arancini were €2.50, and seeing as that’s not what the ticket said we were told we couldn’t get that arancini. While we were choosing one that was the price the ticket said the server was tapping her kitchen tongs impatiently like she had everything better to do! Overall, I don’t recommend it unless you are a local or you don’t mind being treated like that.

We stayed here for three nights as we travelled around Sicily. Cefalu is a lovely quaint town on the coast which we loved visiting. The hotel was fine and I can imagine in height season with a family it would be a good choice. The rooms were spacious but a bit dated, breakfast was a bit of a bun fight, but it does a have a nice cafe/ bar. Be warned it is about a 25 minute walk into the main part which is lovely alongside the beach but you have to negotiate a steep step of steps from the hotel to reach it!
