Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Spent one night in Pisa and stayed here. The staff are friendly and helpful, but initial impressions of the accommodation were not good. However, on closer inspection, the rooms were spacious and clean. The bed was SO comfy, it was hard to get up for the 5am alarm! Due to the early departure, we were unable to sample the breakfast, but the owner saw us off with a big smile and offered us coffee. As I say in my heading, it would really benefit from a cash injection, but what it lacks in aesthetics and modernisation, it makes up for in comfort and friendliness.

This place is a great budget option! You get the basics and not much more, but this is reflected in a fair price. The bed was not orthopedic, but it was serviceable and I slept well. The room is functionally small, but the square footage is actually decent (at least in our room there was an odd hallway leading to the small room. So, you can leave suitcases , bags, etc... out in that area) There is also a very nice garden you can use for self-service dining, or relaxing. The staff was friendly and spoke conversational english. The water pressure is fantastic! The A\C unit has a wonky remote, but once you find the "transmit" button, you will be pleased with the results. If you are a high end traveler this may not suit you, but if you are budget minded and looking for a functional family style hotel with reasonable rates, I would definitely recommend Hotel Minerva. The parking is acceptable as long as you intend to walk while you are in Pisa. It is basically street parking partially managed by hotel owned vehicles "reserving" spots. Once you get parked it is fine, but I would not want to have to sort parking every day or multiple times a day. You are over a kilometer from the tower if that is where you are headed, but you get to walk through a nice shopping district. So, it is not a bad walk. The bathroom door is probably worth mentioning... it's one of those plastic accordion things. So, if your sensitive to your partners habits... bring earplugs... and a fan ;)

I will start with pros: 1. Good location 2. Helpful staff 3. Daily cleaning (in theory) 4. And that's about it... Cons: 1. Very low quality rooms The rooms are tiny, dirty (underneath bed was not cleaned in ages), with very outdated outfits and awful bathroom. The safe in the room is not code one, but with standard key (first time I saw one like this) and the size is tiny. The Bathroom has no ventilation system, only small window, so get ready to lot of heat, especially in the summer. Multiple times we had wrong number of towels delivered (too few large ones, too many small ones etc), some towels were replaced, some were not. Some bathroom equipment was leaking. The AC unit in the room is low quality as well and barely manages to lower temperature in the room during not-so-hot days. 2. Less than average breakfast choices I've visited couple different hotels over past years, including few in Italy and there is very little of good things I can say about breakfast in Minerva hotel. If you come too early (7am), half of the things are not there yet. If you come too late (>8:30am - breakfast are served until 10am), you are told things just ran out and that's it. And it's basic things that run out, like non-toast bread, some meat, fresh fruits or...juices. Out of the other things - there is no elevator in the hotel (that reminded me of a difference between 3 star Italian hotel and 4 star Italian hotel). The hotel advertises itself as family friendly, but if you come with stroller or lots of luggage, get ready for lots of stairs on the way and leaving the stroller at ground floor. If you come by car, the hotel offers you daily parking tickets (10EUR), but it's very hard to fine free slot outside in the afternoon/evening hours (there are no reserved parking spots). No one tells you that parking fee must be paid in cash only, so when you try to check-out as quickly as possible, you may be forced to run to ATM first. It may be good for one-night stay in-between travels, but nothing more than that...

+ The staff was super helpful. Very friendly and tried to help us as much as they could. Localisation was also kinda nice, very close to train station, reasonably close to Pisa tower and airport. We also got a shuttle from hotel to airport at fair price. Food was rather "OK" - Room was dirty, especially the bathroom. The bathroom was kinda built into the room and looked more like a closet. We had a room at 2nd floor and there was no elevator, and we had a lot of stuff with us... It was very diffuclt to take a shower there, if u wanted hot water, it was very low pressure. The low room cost didint compensate for the amount of dirt and mold in the room and bathroom. There were also some insects flying around the room and bathroom. There is a restaurant that was supposed to be a part of hotel, we wanted to order some stuff and eat in hotel garden, but the guy in restaurant told us "i don't have this restaurant to let you eat in hotel". So we had to go to some other restaurant. Not very pleasent, but well i kinda get his point.

Needed a place for one night in Pisa at a reasonable price and this was ideal. Pleasant staff, room was fine but no lift if you have issues. WiFi worked perfectly and breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about. All in all, decent enough and just what I wanted.

We had a bit of a pickle with the booking, as we expected a room with balcony, but we received one without. Nonetheless, Valek (a friendly Transnistrian staffer) managed to get us a room with a balcony. This was nice! The rooms themselves are rather basic, not very bright, but acceptable. The problem with the breakfast was that if one wakes up a bit later (still within the breakfast schedule) might not find a whole lot of food or even basic cutlery. As a whole, the staffers are very friendly, good for a chat at any hour. The backyard is nice as well, but as we visited Pisa during winter, we couldn't enjoy it fully.

Not a bad location being within walking distance from the central station (but do take a taxi if carrying luggage). But, the ground floor room I was in was old, tatty and dull. Additionally, the breakfast was mediocre. I’d look to stay elsewhere if staying in Pisa again.

The hotel is situated perfectly for all amenities and the garden area is lovely to sit and relax after a hectic day and have a glass of wine. The staff can't do enough for you and the room was clean and looked after.
