Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really loved this quaint, comfy, city centre hotel. It is right beside a few darn good supermarkets for supplies and a 5 minute drive from the port. The staff here are stand-out wonderful and the daily brekky offerings delightful, with great food and coffee choices. Our 4th floor air-conditioned bedroom was on a corner and double-glazed so it was fairly quiet, especially, usefully, at night time. Our room was on the small side with great in - room coffee and the bed lovely. The bathroom has a space saving sliding door and has a shower (stand in the bath) that was real powerful and there’s a bidet which I always am delighted to find in hotel rooms. The hotel lift is also on the small side. The rooms have clearly been renovated, there’s some nice touches in the bathroom accessories and the room had a tiny wall - mounted tv that we didn’t watch as Trieste has so much to offer from great food to stunning architecture, a complex history to include a coffee museum (being Italy’s largest coffee importer/processor) and with all these delights who wants to watch telly. They have a snug bar open in the evenings near ground floor reception (where the breakfast area is) but they do switch off their espresso machine about 10pm so if coffee is your drink of choice get in before then. It’s our second time in Trieste in a year - the first time was an emergency when I was toxin poisoned and hospitalised courtesy of MSC cruise line. This time we intentionally returned and we would return here again in a heartbeat and would love to stay at least a week as Trieste is just wonderful. If you need more proof of its greatness it was home to genius James Joyce for near 16 years at the start of the 20th century which must have been a world away from dirt poor, tenement Dublin. The decay of Dublin was epitomised by Henrietta Street, which had once been home to generations of lawyers, but was, by 1911, overflowing with poverty. An astonishing 835 people lived in 15 houses. At number 10 Henrietta Street, the Sisters of Charity ran a laundry with more than 50 single women inside. Now we know nuns and laundry gave rise to pure unblemished evil but that’s a whole other horror story.

We felt welcome from arrival and were in great hands with Jorge at the front desk. He made excellent restaurant recommendations an called a taxi to transport us. The rooms were beautiful, and we would have given 5 stars for ambiance. Walkable to the canal and Piazza Unità d'Italia. The parking across the street in the garage was worth the cost and having a grocery store in the same building was great! We loved staying in Trieste!

We had a room on the top floor in the roof. We both bumped our heads a couple of times, so not for tall people. Maybe we should have taken an upgrade, but they were described as a rooms with fireplace & who wants a fireplace when it’s 30 degrees? Otherwise staff were great, breakfast ok, and it’ conveniently just out of the centre; good for buses, if you want to explore the area around.

We can’t fault this hotel. We stayed at 5 hotels in three countries on this trip and this and one other are our favorites. We paid extra for a junior suite which was a corner room. Very light and airy, quiet and spacious. Large bathroom with a bath with shower within. Bath has hers (didn’t use) two sinks, plenty of room for your toiletries. Room had large safe, lots of closet and drawers for storage. A small corner table and chairs we dined at one night (took food home), and even a fire place. The main hotel has an area they serve breakfast in (a good breakfast- not the best of our travels). Plenty of restaurants/Trattorias/delicatessens and other shops and banks/cash ATMs within walking distance. Great location. Staff were very helpful and attentive and there’s always someone at the front desk. Highly recommend!

Very lovely hotel with old-town charm in downtown Trieste close to everything. Loved it. Very courteous staff. Very clean, comfortable. Great location. Make reservations if dining in the area. Have staff call ahead. Able -bodied won’t have difficulty walking with luggage from train station or cruise port. Excellent pastry shops nearby. The only odd thing was with reception. We had reserved 4 rooms for our family, but the parents who made the reservation and paid for the rooms got the smallest room--they should have thought that one through a bit more. All the good stuff over-rode this issue.

(+) breakfast and cleanliness and general design of the entire buidling was a huge plus (-) Yet, I have had trouble with electricity working improperly in my room and it wasn't a single event but it happend more than twice. Upon check-in my key card did not work, after having it recharged and after inserting it I only found out that the lights do not work and same goes for power sockets. I got proper help from the clerk even though it was in the middle of the night. My second situation was more or less the same, but this time another employee was not as helpful and she did not believe that such a problem occured and thought of me as an idiot that does not know how key cards work and that one needs to insert it. In the end the problem disappeared on its own, but it took 15 minutes of waiting for the electricity to come back.
