Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent, comfortable hotel perfectly situated a few minutes walk from the Metro with direct train line to the airport. Major attractions and lots of great restaurants within walking distance. The all day buffet is very handy for a snack which you can enjoy in a lovely, elegant room (see photo). Staff helpful and friendly. The bed was comfortable and the shower excellent, but I would probably go for a slightly larger room next time. Will definitely return one day!

Rooms terrible- not cleaned for ages, with ugly smell of humidity, mouse’s running in the balcony, as well inside the walls ( you have to knock wall sometimes to escape noise inside, at night sleep wit table lamp) Heating system not worked, conditioning as well , in the reception was told that they are changing them. So it was cold as well. One good thing is location of the hotel

Location 5* shopping, metro, tour buses, supermarket very close. Warning: 7 stairs to access lift to reception…I also had stairs to my room with 2 bags 35 kg full of gifts. Worth it. Friendly, helpful staff, heritage building full of chandeliers, wallpaper and antiques, a novelty in today’s cookie cutter hotel chains. Modern bright bathroom cabin with glass ceiling view of room’s high ceilings, excellent fittings, super clean. Minimal room amentities and toiletries, all purpose soap on tap. French windows overlooking rambla that did not bother my sleep. all day buffet full of basic chilled covered dishes you can reheat, drinks, beer, wine and warm items for breakfast. Eat in the lounge bar or take to your room and return your dishes. Great value and convenient if you are travelling long haul or your time clock has you craving food at 2am… just help yourself. Buffet area is locked overnight but the receptionist was happy to open it for me to access early coffee. Mattress firm but comfortable , good linen and yes, rose pink towels, brass bed and frilly lamp shades. I don’t see it suiting younger folk. Seems to attract the cruise crowd. Good security. If you want a modern, hands off approach hotel this is not it. If you want charm, something stuck in a time warp with convenience of drink and food buffet this is it. Note: there are 2 Hotels 1. Hotel Continental, 2.Hotel Continental Palacette and this is the one I am reviewing. Make sure your taxi/ driver do not take you to the wrong hotel! While the room has a fridge there is no in room tea coffee but the buffet drinks area compensates for that. The only negatives: hangers old plastic and dusty, weird heating unit covered in plastic should have a more professional cover, tiny specs of mould in basin corner, room fridge and microwave probably due for replacement. Occasional deep cleaning of corners and ledges advisable, the stairs,( particularly if you have heavy luggage or mobility issues). Please remove the awful dried flower vase in room.

Small well located and well run hotel in central Barcelona. A building with character and charm. Perhaps not for those seeking modern luxury but definitely great staff and well priced accommodation. Very well located on La Rambla. We were able to walk to most places of interest from the hotel

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. The dining room was quiet and beautifully decorated. The buffet was very convenient and had what you needed. The reason I can only give a 3 is because of the noise in the rooms . We booked 2x comfort rooms which were an ok size and the bed very comfortable . We had a fan outside which was noisy and the air con inside was noisier . There was no natural light through the window . The hotel kindly moved one room which was much quieter. Ear plugs were needed each night so I would recommend taking these if you are planning a comfort room. It is a beautiful friendly hotel as described in many rooms , we were maybe just unlucky with room allocation .

This hotel is housed in an old mansion. High gilded ceilings and chandeliers. Serena and Laia, at the front desk, were very helpful. They helped us schedule tours and arranged our airport taxi. We arrived early in the morning after departure from a cruise ship. We left our luggage while we went to visit Barcelona for the day. Andre took care of our luggage, when we returned the luggage had been placed in the room. Having the option of the food service allowed us to pop in at any time to grab a snack, have a drink or make a meal.

This is a phenomenal boutique hotel with exceptional customer service. The staff was AMAZING and so helpful. The historic building is beautiful, well-cared for and easy to find. The 24-hour buffet/snack area was also ideal for breakfast, snacks (frozen yogurt was awesome on a hot afternoon) and a light dinner if needed. They even accommodated dietary restrictions.
