This marks my fourth stay at Hotel Cort, with my second visit this year. Regrettably, my latest experience deviated significantly from all prior ones. Upon check-in, we were assigned room 25, which, regrettably, turned out to be the smallest, darkest, and most secluded room in the establishment. While compact dimensions and seclusion can be tolerable, what proved unacceptable were the presence of mold stains on the ceiling, water marks along the walls, a window overlooking a collection of pigeon droppings, and an unsettling odor of sewage that permeated from the bathroom into the bedroom, all at a nightly rate of EUR 340. Room 25 should never be offered in such a condition for booking. Promptly, we informed the reception, and they graciously reassigned us to an alternative room. However, upon entering the new room, I discovered tufts of hair and a plaster in the shower, which was disheartening. Unfortunately, during our second night, the hotel was fully booked, and we were once again placed in room 25. Given the previously mentioned issues, we found it unjust to accept this without addressing the matter further. The receptionist conveyed that he had explored various options with the management but was instructed not to provide any refund or price reduction. He appeared visibly embarrassed, and our sympathies were with him. The housekeeping team made earnest efforts to improve the room’s ambiance, employing an abundance of room spray to mask the persistent sewage odor. This experience has left me deeply disheartened. After several years of unwavering loyalty, bringing friends to share in the Hotel Cort experience, and passionately recommending the establishment to others (I last recommended it to guest V.J. from Basel, Switzerland, who stayed in July), this visit stands in stark contrast to my prior experiences at hotels. I must emphasize that the hotel staff maintained their friendliness and professionalism throughout our stay. However, due to their lack of authority granted by the management, they were regrettably unable to fully address our concerns. While we have recently made reservations for our next stay at Hotel Cort next year, we are contemplating a change of plans, even if it means paying a premium, to stay at the neighboring Hotel Cappuccino for our future visits instead.…
