Borgo is the Italian word for village. Borgo Egnazia, a stroll from the Adriatic Sea on the fertile plains of Puglia, is a village of dreams hewn in the beautiful white Tufo stone of the region. If it had existed in ancient times it would have been the eighth wonder of the world! But although it looks as if time, sun, footsteps and sea breezes have weathered its facades, Borgo Egnazia is a 21st century creation that sparks the imagination with its characterful buttresses and the higgledy-piggledy layout of the casette around the central Piazza. You arrive at La Corte (the court), which sits like a manor house or Moorish Castle to the side of the village. It's a castle of troubadours and sanctuary though, not of battlements. Here are rooms where you can take your sojourn with us, descending the sweeping stairway to enjoy the bars, restaurants, terraces, spa and pools as well as the many secreted, gently lit bowers in a labyrinth of corridors that make it seem as if you had entered the Temple of Aphrodite! Alternatively you can choose to stay in one of the Borgo's casette, a deux or as a family of four, which nestle around two piazzas down bougainvillea- scented alleyways that you would swear had been there since the days of carts and horses. Larger families might prefer to take one of our 29 villas that fringe the village with their own plunge pools and shaded gardens, lush with oleander and rosemary. Borgo Egnazia is hard to describe. It's a place like nowhere else, with so much thought having gone into every detail. You have to come and experience it for yourself. What we have done is given glimpses about the many characteristics of the place. We hope you enjoy these. If they conjure in your mind the sense of a place rich in earthy provenance, splendid in its imagining and deeply restorative in its comforts and perfection, then our words will be doing some justice to the reality of Borgo Egnazia. Vair Spa Vair is emphasizing the role played by internal beauty, which illuminates each one of us and never deteriorates. We are introducing the results of a year's worth of research into an essential theme: The fulfillment of the psyche, that can be searched in a series of extraordinary treatments born precisely from this vision. Before choosing the best tailor-made spa itinerary, our guests often say they would like to feel happier after their treatments. This is why we suggest that you do not miss the life-changing treatments, which are carried out in the friendly and inviting atmosphere at Vair, the innovative and modern Mind & Body Spa surrounded by Puglia's natural beauty. We train every day to have the clearest attitude in welcoming you. The Training of the Spa Team has been extra-ordinary. Inspired and excellent teachers, all masters in their arts, left us tools and knowledge to enhance our methods for delivering committed Spa experiences in this changing world.

We spent 3 nights here, our ‘room’ was a two bedroom casa, with a private courtyard and rooftop terrace. Plenty of room for the 4 of us! We had a wonderful time. Highlights: Breakfast was amazing. We loved the buffet and a la carte options. Pools. All stunning. Worth noting the indoor pool has limited times it is open for children. Lots of treats were left for us at various times which made things feel special. Kids club had great offers and the kids enjoyed going. Spa - the best massage I have ever had and stunning relaxing area. The meal at Due Camini was a real experience. Very little I can fault, we did find the regular dining options fairly cost prohibitive although the children’s meals were great quality.

I so wanted our second visit to match up to our first when we came with our children in 2015… and it just didn’t. The first time we stayed for 2 weeks & it was truly magical - you felt like you were part of the family. Special. The staff were outstanding, the whole place smelled incredible and it was just mind blowing. This time was just…. Meh. Disinterested staff, a little disdainful & just average. We’d tell them we’d been before & the response was almost “so what?” The only really exceptional experience in our stay was our meal at Due Camini, otherwise I feel like it’s now just a tick box to visit. Sad as I am to say it, we won’t be coming back.

This place is unbelievably beautiful. It's like an enchanted village set in the countryside of Puglia. The architecture, villas, landscaping, and interior decorating are stunning. The food is delicious. The staff, friendly and accommodating. Everything is made of tufa, a form of sandstone. We were there over Christmas and there was a Christmas market every evening, with food and local crafts and wine tastings. We gaped at all the small touches--an olive tree in the central court with illuminated pages for leaves, the vaulted ceilings in the restaurants, the lights in the trees, etc. The fridge was filled with complementary sodas and goodies. We spent 8 perfect days here (and got a bit fat). There's a gym, a hair salon, a yoga studio, bicycle tours, cooking classes, trips to local villages, and four restaurants within the resort, including one with a Michelin star. Is there a drawback to paradise? Well, it's incredibly expensive. Cute slippers in the gift shop were $600! But if money is no object, you can't do better.

Absolutely stunning property! It is an entire authentic village with wonderful rooms, facilities, good, wine and people. We had a lovely festival evening with music and performers. Our second night was artisanal autumn cocktails followed by a delicious pizza in the square. The location is perfect for day trips to bari, locorotondo.

This is in my top favourite resorts. There is something for everyone in the family. There is an excellent golf course, a beach, tennis courts, kids club (such great staff; my kids loved it!), kid friendly pool, adult pool in a different section of the resort for those who want peace. A spa, gym, yoga classes included. The hotel hired me a taxi (s-class Mercedes) that took me to all the incredible towns. These towns are a 30 min drive away and I chose 6 towns (UNESCO). It was a magical 8 hour day. Of course you can break it up into multiple excursions over 2 or more days. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. The staff was so lovely especially at the breakfast and dinner at the Trattoria. We met the general manager of the hotel when my daughter scraped her knee and she was so hospitable and caring. No wonder this place is run to perfection. It’s been the most relaxed that I’ve felt in a while.

Borgo Egnazia loves up to its slogan - it is truly like no where else. The room was incredibly spacious, we were welcomed with local items to take home, and the food both at breakfast and at dinner was wonderful. We appreciate how modern all the amenities were while having a Puglian experience. Specific compliments to the quality of air conditioning in the gym and rooms - a big deal for Americans not used to the heat and humidity that can sometimes come naturally to the area. A definite must for hotel enthusiasts.

This is an exceptional resort with extraordinary attention to detail. The food, amenities and rooms are all outstanding. The concierge service (Michele!) was amazing. Incredibly responsive and personalized. It is very expensive though and it seems the resort takes the view that their guests will pay anything. You just need to be careful to check costs at every step.

Style over substance. This place looks great but simply doesn't work. Cloying scented air conditioning in all common areas. Ridiculous styling - lots of white curtains, old string and newspaper used as decorative items. Low level candles in reception are an accident waiting to happen. Staff not interested. Bedroom stupid - who needs big stone troughs of salt in their bedroom? Bed very hard. I did not like this over priced, ridiculous hotel at all. Boutique sells shorts out of old table cloths and charges a huge amount for them - that made me laugh. Ground near the pool gritty so you have to wear shoes. Expensive, over the top and not stylish - just daft. Even the staff get lost due to everything being shrowded in white curtains. Not for me but many people love it.

Where to start? The ‘Welcome’. Polite but that was about it. Limited information and property tour. Was left to find a waiter in order to get a welcome coffee whisky we waited for our room. The ‘Room’. Overlooking the pool. Compact would be polite. Bath towels were well past their throw away date. Lacked any warmth as simply stone everywhere. Light system fiddly. No welcome basket of fruit, probably too colourful, or welcome drink. Previous weeks event calendar presented. The ‘Breakfast’. Well what can be said of this. The most uninspiring of rooms, more stone, more white. The breakfast displays equally stark and uninspiring being the same repeated day after day. The most uncomfortable chairs. Solid wood, white of course, with a piece of cloth acting as a cushion. Limited choices of basic foodstuffs. By far the worst hotel/resort breakfast we have ever experienced. Moreover come 10:30 there is a mad dash by the staff to clear everything away. Why is are the eggs cooked outside? The ‘Pool area’. Two large pools. Nice beds spaced out so private. Small bar area. Service was good but no niceties, such as cold towels on arrival, treats of fruit or ice cream during the day. Apart from one small area next to the main building, no poolside restaurant to enjoy. Lounger side tables always dirty. The ‘Spa’. Odd layout. Lots of stairs Down to changing rooms, back up to reception then up to rooms. Actual treatment awful. First time I have refused to pay. The ‘Tennis courts’. Quite simply, in need of urgent repair. The soft courts were actually dangerous with bumps on the surface and dreadful wear and tear. Major trip hazard. No one in attendance to provide towels from locked room. Only water available from tap which was not cold. The ‘Hotel’. Guys you need to introduce a splash of colour! We and other guests said that after one day your eyes are denied colour and you begin to crave seeing something other than stone, white, cream, black and more stone. We felt that wandering through the corridors, cloisters is a better description, was like being in a monastery. Very very dark and uninviting. Far too much emphasis on stone and more stone. The doors in and out of various spaces, including the toilets strangely, have fire door bars to hit. Very industrial and unattractive. Why? (Also painted white of course). The ‘Staff’. With one or two exceptions, no one seemed happy with their job. Quite sad. To conclude. Much over hyped. Much over priced. Needs a softer, warmer feel. Not close to anywhere so you need a driver or hire a car.
