What travellers are saying
- HenriCloeteTrondheim, Norway220 contributionsI'm always a bit hesitant about aquariums and zoos, but the tanks at the Aquarium of Genoa are generally impressively large (although I felt some were too overcrowded) and well-maintained. They also have an impressive selection of animals, and it is therefore great for educational purposes. However, I felt several of the information boards at tanks were very outdated (the species in the tanks were different than those shown) and we actually spotted a couple of outright mistakes where the name of the fish did not correspond to the picture.Written 10 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ibrahim A1 contributionIf you visit Genoa and want to spend some hours in a beach then this beach is the one. The rocky beach was very unique to me and I really liked it. We had to take the bus to return to our hotel and can’t find taxis.Written 17 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - travelsafer6,912 contributionsThe name of this museum comes from a neighborhood in Istanbul that was an enclave of genoans in the past, and that gave the name to this area in Genoa. The building where the museum is located is the area where the ships where built in the past. This is a very interesting museum that hosts hundreds of artifacts among which a reproduction of a 17th century galley, documents signed by Christopher Columbus, lots of informations and displays on ships, shipyards and their history and also modern transatlantic liners. It was a little arduous to visit with two young children, but absolutely worth it. Be prepared to spend hours to visit all of it.Written 6 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Semaj Clinton26 contributionsDon't go to Portofino, don't bother with the Cinque Terre, just wander the couple of km of the Promenade A.Garibaldi from Nervi harbour. Disappear amongst the Italians. Wander, eat gelato, sip coffee, eat pizza, get on a train, wander to the shore and swim, eat, suit up and don't ever leaveWritten 6 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jason SMelbourne, Australia1,693 contributionsReally nice street to walk down with historical building/palaces lining the street.
Of the via is many small laneways making the area full of little shops, cafe and bars.
Many of palaces are now museums and some are good to see.
Highly recommend going during day and night to see the contrast in atmosphere of area.Written 31 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are two "lifts" which go here, but it is much more fun strolling through the narrow lanes/steps of Genoa "Old Town" to get up here. Around the back was a great cafe as well...Cheap, good, honest food and friendly staffWritten 21 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DuckysWifeUnited Kingdom868 contributionsFor 10 euros per adult this museum within the palace is great value for money. Many paintings on view mostly portraits, a few marble sculptures, rooms looking as if royal family were still living there. Rooms have information boards in English and Italian. My favourite was the throne room with all the gold. The city view from out on the terrace upstairs was special.Written 13 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jason SMelbourne, Australia1,693 contributionsEnjoy walking around this area with all the history that surrounds you.
This is where you can explore many of the palaces you can get a variety of tickets and it’s very much worth going inside some of these places.
Love the architecture of the area, but must say some times did feel a little unsafe in some of the areas at night time, as my hotel close by came across some sketchy people.Written 31 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Saw the Artemisia Gentileschi show about the most famous female baroque artist of its time, quite impressive! The exhibit is within the palace so you get to see the magnificent chapel as well.inside there’s also a bar in the courtyard.Written 11 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
