What travellers are saying
- Gillian WFrance154 contributionsThe Sentier des Douanier is a fabulous walk providing beautify scenery. It is an easy walk but you do need comfortable shoes. Along the way you can see the fishermen's huts which are, for the most part, no longer used, but are part of the national heritage. Along the path towards Pornic from the beach La Source you will not find any cafes to take a break but Pornic is only 45 minutes away at a very gently place. Not only is there the pathway, but there is also a special cycling lane and pedestrian lane on the small one-way street which is speed-limited for cars. Cycles etc are not permitted on the foot path.
Apparently there are organized/guided tours if you so wish to choose one, but it is relatively easy to just walk the length you wish to and then go back to your starting point instead of doing the full 11 km circuit. You get great views of L'ile de Noirmoutier.Written 16 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Then went to l' Anse aux Lapins and then walked to the Pêcherie de la Birochère. We returned to Noirmoutier island by crossing the sea at Le passage du Gois. You have to make sure of the tidal timetable so you don't get stuck in the middle of the ocean! It was a lovely trip and I encourage anyone to do this. Walk by the ocean within nature and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the coast line.Written 15 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Colin SBarnstaple, UK25 contributionsLovely sandy beach, although the steps were a challenge for my wife and her arthritic knees. Great setting, watching the Pornic Volleyball club train. Very warm and sunny well into the evening. Disabled parking was opposite.Written 11 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChrisetJeannePasadena, CA17 contributionsI almost hate to review this gem because I would love to keep it a secret. Great beach with awesome rocks that become submerged at high tide. The water is warmer than above the Loire and it is easy to swim in and out regardless of the water level. Protected by the Ile de Nourmoutier from big waves.Written 24 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RichardMuswellHillLondon, UK15 contributionsLovely little seaside town. Accessible by road and rail from Nantes.
Coastal walks and great little cafes to watch the harbour and the world go by. We stayed for a couple of days at Westotel, but if we returned I think we would stay at the Spa Hotel overlooking sea.Written 9 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wab-pcsMacclesfield, UK155 contributionsWhile it is well signposted as to wher it is, moecould be made of the history by giving the synopsis in say German and English as well as French. We felt it was a bit understated.which was a pity as it was well preserved.Written 1 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
