Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very busy and crowded market with lots of fresh and cooked food. It can get so crowded that you can barely move along. Worth taking visitors for the experience if it's their first visit.

You will probably pass by. Nice place to eat and visit the surroundings. Kyoto tower is just a few blocks away.

We've made this walk many times over the years and enjoy the trip. The walkway is unique in itself and leads to a wonderful temple. There are many shops and restaurants some of which are just souvenirs while others have unique crafts. We've only ever had snacks along the route - rice crackers, ice cream and tea - but there are many options. If it is really crowded I'd suggest staying away. If it is just busy then it's a great walk.

Great shopping arcade undercover. Interesting little shops to browse through. Lots of food samples and tasty Japanese skewered food and snacks. Weekends are a bit crowded and you could lose a family member, if they are not following closeby. Best to have a meeting place in case you get separated. Interesting shopping experience.

This is a nice size mall connected to the underground. It has a variety of stores with reasonable prices. There's even a place to get a foot massage (after long day of shopping). We found interesting Japanese only gifts for friends/family and prices were very reasonable. All salespeople were very helpful and went out of their way to assist.

It was actually pouring down rain the day we went to this flea market but we still had a great time. There were tons of booths with lots of interesting and different things to purchase at a reasonable price. There were also lots of food booths.

My wife was a little disappointed. She was hoping for fabric she couldn't get at home in Australia. Nothing extraordinary.

Though the museum is close to the subway, I was running late, so I took a taxi there & the driver said it was muzukashii (difficult) to find. It was well worth finding—very kind & talented artisans work there (+ speak excellent English). They are very patient & make you feel like a star! I took two classes to make a cotton furoshiki + silk scarf. While waiting for my “art” to dry, I got a personal museum tour by the owner’s son. Great info + spectacular art--I would definitely return to take another class again!

The store is elegant and actually appears to be a composite of several different stores under one roof. Should you need/want books in English, head to the two-story bookstore on the two lowest levels.

I was looking for some non japannesse food and they have a few options here. Ate at this place called Ikanira steak and it was actually pretty good.We also browse through some of the stores that looked kind of different than what we are use to. It has a large arcade area and a movie theater. I think it's a great place to spend a few hours.

This is located underneath the Kyoto Station Building, however we went out the station building and down another entrance to get into Porta. This place is just huge, with all of the city transport coming together in one place. It's madness. Once you get down to porta though, it is easier to find your way around and grab some food.
We ate at a place called Japanese Bowl Cafe and it was fantastic! Great food, reasonable price, and we got to sit and rest our feet for awhile.
I think it's open daily until about 8:30 pm, but we went for lunch.

This place is huge. It's a hub of activity. The subway, shopping, food, escalators. Fun way to spend a couple of hours.
