What travellers are saying
- Sandra SVelky Meder, Slovakia2 contributionsAmazing city. must-see in central Europe. Close proximity to Vienna so it can be perfect trip to see both cities with great history.Written 28 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tushar_paiMilton Keynes, UK2,935 contributionsWe took a Bolt taxi from the centre and it took just 20 mins and less than €10 to get there. The castle is in ruins but is set on a mountain top at the confluence of Danube and Morava rivers. On the other side is Austria and so this castle is quite literally on the border.
The extended circuit takes you round the castle and leads to up the middle castle and upper castle. There are about 150 steps leading up to the upper castle from where you can see the rivers and into Austria. There is this really deep well in the middle castle which you can look into.
We spent more than an hour over here wandering around the ruins and then took a taxi back.Written 25 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Many of the streets had interesting markers and manhole covers, but this beats them all.Written 25 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Christos TAthens, Greece14 contributionsGreat museum with a very interesting permanent exhibition. Parts of the walls are glass, so you can see the river from inside the building. Both indoors and outdoors exhibitions are lovely. Easy parking, very nice cafe. When sunny, enjoy a coffee break outside. You should spend at least one and a half hour to see the whole exhibition.Written 5 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - miss_iceteaKaunas, Lithuania6 contributionsCute church, interesting style. I'm glad we didn't force ourselves to get up at 6am to see the inside, since during it's non-working hours, you can still go in through first doors and see the inside through the glassed second doorsWritten 5 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jamie18 contributionsWe took the trip up via taxi (and back down by foot). The memorial itself is beautifully done and is very nice to walk around whilst taking in history - or paying respects.
To couple with the history around, the views over the city are equally amazing so well worth the trip.Written 5 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a beautiful location with an unreal view of the city, especially at night.
Unfortunately the museum wasn't open on a Tuesday, and we arrived too late to view the gardens.
However undoubtably both would have been beautiful experiences that hopefully we can one day enjoy.Written 27 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The lift up is just a short ride and then up a few steps to the viewing platform.
I had a beer in the cafe/ restaurant which was nice to warm up inside and relax overlooking the city.Written 16 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is possible to go up and get a view of the old town.

Few benches to sit on to just sit and watch all that is going on.Written 30 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is at the end of St Michaels street. It used to sit over a moat surrounding the old city in the 1300's. It is a must see if the old city as its one of the oldest buildings in town.Written 7 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
