Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Jan U20 contributionsThe gallery has two storeys, one for pictures and one for statues. richly decorated room vaults. Among the absolute must-see are: Bernini statue of abduction (yes i'm stalling the word for raptus puelae) - lifelike details of hand grasping the thigh; also Bernini's transmutation into laurel tree with twigs and branches merging with fingers of the statue; the horse rider falling off his horse into the room; gladiator themed mosaics. There's plenty of other statues thanks to this particular's pope "taste for male beauty". i liked the picture collection in Conservatores Campidoglio better as there was greater variety of styles and themes.
Book the tickets well in advance. Children (here under 18 yo) get considerable discount. backpacks to be stored in the guardaroba, free of charge. the ticket says entry is for two hours, that's about adequate time for a visit anyway.
the building is equipped with a lift, individual rooms are accesible by wheelchair.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was never intended to be a castle at the start. Most people find this place. Interesting. I think it was worth the price of admission.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Katherine ILondon, United Kingdom12 contributionsFull of great history, art and stories. We had a guide, which I recommend as you might not get as much if you're on your own. We had Rebecca Harden and she was quite extraordinary with her good humour, kindness to the elderly and depth of knowledge.Written 5 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - planningproGreenwood Village, CO250 contributionsWant to gaze at an amazing old palace with multiple art masterpieces without one tenth of the crowds of the Borghese? This is the place. Bought tickets at the door. Not crowded at all. Audio guide included. Could view any work of art at leisure. Velasquez, Caravaggio, Rubens, Bernini and more... Plenty of benches to sit, rest and observe. Marvelous ceilings, rooms.. Just a top notch experience.Written 28 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CarmelOIreland139 contributionsGreat place to see the sculptured images of Romans. We visited here after having been to the colosseum / Palatine Hill / Roman Forum so this was a very appropriate follow on from that experience. You could imagine these people attending the games. Give yourself 2 hours for the visit. Lovely cafe / restaurant on site also.Written 16 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Helena H10 contributionsPalazzo Barberini Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica displays art from a wide array of famous painters--Caravaggio, Raphael, Reni... Here, you can actually enjoy the art without the crowds. The architecture of the place is breath-taking. Look for the staircase and the ceilings!Written 25 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mary Jane E19 contributionsVilla Farnesina was so special. A perfect Renaissance villa located in Trastavere 10 minutes from my hotel. I signed up for the English language tour they give every Saturday at 10 am and my guide-Sophie-was wonderful.Written 26 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Enid WSt Clears, UK2 contributionsWhat an amazing museum of Etruscan artefacts housed in the atmospheric 16th Century Villa of Pope Julius 111. No need to book, easy to get to - just a short ride on the 150F bus from Termini. Modern and laid out like a gallery internally & air conditioned. Not to be missed. Also Villa Pontiatowski nearby. It's fading splendour houses some interesting exhibits, particularly the last room with it's sumptuous grave goods from one tomb.Written 28 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KristianRome, Italy1 contributionMy girlfreind and I visited this museum and it was amazing. Because we’re under 25 we only paid 2 euros each! The museum contains everything from classical art from Van Gogh, a butchered horse and the story behind J.R.R. Tolkien and his countless collection of stories.Written 18 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sconne21Newbury, UK53 contributionsThis is an exceptional place to go if you like art and sculpture, and haven't quite seen enough whilst in Rome! You can easily spend 2-3 hours here. There are toilets. I recommend getting the combined ticket for the best value. It includes two other fantastic museums with art, sculptures and courtyard.Written 3 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SNCFVoyagerFalls Church, VA59 contributionsSigned up for tour in English and our guide provided great historical context for this renaissance villa. The gardens and main building facade that is hidden from public view is amazing with the inlaid panels from earlier times. Sitting atop Pinchon Hill the vista of old Rome spreads out before your eyes. Well worth the time and admission fee. For photos of the city a morning visit is recommended.Written 20 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
