Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Sarah11 contributionsThe Apocolype tapestry is a must see if you are in or near Angers. The craftsmanship is just stunning, and the imagery is fascinating. An audio guide is definitely recommended; you can pause the commentary to give you longer to study the individual panels.Written 23 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Slow_food_for_meMaui35 contributionsLe Musée d'Ardoise is fascinating. This area of France was rich in slate (ardoise) - so much so that there was once was a law that roofs had to be made of slate. This museum shows you how workers/craftsmen used to change raw slabs of the stone into finished shingles and other items, using coarse tools. They also have a showroom of many different articles made of slate and information about the quarrying that occurred in the area.
I visited twice because I enjoyed it so much the first time around. Granted, I have a background in geology, so that aspect was of interest. But if you have any interest in the history of the region, ancient craftsmanship, and a live display of how it was done, then I recommend this place highly.
I visited a few years ago, but checked the website to be sure it's still available for both the museum and the demonstration. It's 7 euros for an adult for the museum and the demonstration. 4 euros for just the museum. Children are 2 euros. But there are discounts. I received a discount as a teacher - as is true for many museums throughout France. (though it is not currently listed as a discount on their website)Written 15 July 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We stayed for about an hour and enjoyed looking at the weird and wonderful taxidermy. Outside and into another building there is another two rooms, one with a meteor and another with lots of fossils. We stayed for about an hour before going to the Parc des Plantes nearby.Written 15 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alise L41 contributionsIt is a nice place (entrance is for free) in the city centre. There are some interesting expositions, but the best part was the Egyptian theme, where you can play an interactive game and prepare a dead corpse for mummification. That was really cool.Written 25 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DordogneAnglaisCambridge, UK80 contributionsI visited this museum a few days after RAF Hendon, Shuttleworth and Duxford. This was so different and interesting in many ways, featuring all sorts of unusual aircraft, gliders, remote control model planes and smaller exhibits. This is not a very big museum, but it feels friendly and well-organised. I particularly liked the training plane, which you can sit in and learn all about the controls. Other exhibits were available for very close inspection. Of course, everything is in French, and although some exhibits may include notices in other languages, it's better if you can speak French. The high walkways to the model planes & the model plane engines was quite novel and different, but I suppose if you aren't physically able to manage staircases or you are a wheelchair user, this might limit your enjoyment of the museum. That said, all of the main exhibits and almost all of the museum is on the ground floor so it shouldn't prove much of a limitation. I enjoyed my morning here very much and would gladly visit again one day.Written 29 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Margaret GLos Angeles, California, United States59 contributionsThis museum is dedicated to the history and works of Marie-Euphrasie Pelletier, who founded an order of nuns devoted to caring for women and children in distress. She was born into a family that had been exiled by the French Revolutionaries, which may have informed her later work devoted to refugees. She became a nun at age 18 and, by age 29, she was the highest-ranking in the convent. She went on to found her own order, and oversaw its expansion to hundreds of convents all around the world (including the US). Her ability to get things done in the face of obstacles led her to become known as "the only man of Angers."
Before visiting, make sure to check the schedule on the museum website directly. We wandered in only to find out it was closed. But in true Angevin fashion, they called the tour guide at home and it happened there was a group visiting later that afternoon and we were allowed to tag along for the very warm and informative tour. I'm not sure if they also provide tours in English on days when they're open but they have materials and signs in English.Written 16 November 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
