Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- StephenCrossDublin, Ireland18,526 contributionsShakespeare schoolroom is slightly off location wise on the TA map. However, you can’t miss it as it’s a large building and well signposted. Very historic.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- neilr124Rugby, UK2 contributionsMy wife and I went on the ghost tour at the museum in the evening. Our ghostly guide for the evening was Winifred. She was knowledgeable, eccentric and lots fun.
Highly recommend doing the evening tour with the lamp light, it makes it extra spooky/eerie.
We would like to give a big thank you to Winifred, she was a great listener, as well as a fantastically spooky and funny tour guide. She took the time to chat with my wife Mandy and I after the tour, she was very kind and thoughtful and we learned a lot.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I visited the annual Print Fair at Compton Verney in Warwickshire. It was a great experience.
I really enjoyed that all the works on display were so different to each other, some artists used digital art, other collage, one artist used cyanotype printing method which was interesting as I had already experimented with this technique. Other artists used wood blocks or lino carving. Some art was very small and detailed and others were larger, colourful some were simple but very effective.
Each artist had their own little gallery / stall and I could view the work on display while talking directly to the artist who created it. It was really great to be able to ask questions about their art, how they made it, what techniques they used. Some of the artists showed me their tools and were happy to talk about their printmaking methods and materials they use.
I enjoyed that I could walk around at my own pace spending time looking at the art that I found most interesting and all of the artists were very happy to talk with me about their art. It was good that the art was relatively affordable, but even though i couldn’t afford the larger artworks I could still purchase a greetings card size original print.
I particularly liked Andy Walkers work. He is a digital artists using Procreate to make landscapes and seascapes that appear photographic from a distance but are actually made up of thousands of colourful triangles, Andy kindly showed me how he makes his art using an iPad and showed me a piece he was in the middle of making.
I also liked the work of Ellie Cliflands. Her wood caving prints are so small but incredible detailed that she had a magnifying glass on her stand so that you could really see the detail in her artwork. She also had a step by step guide which liked to an instagram reel to show a video of the process. Her work is all in black and white which means she can make multiple prints from her block carvings and they are very striking.
I found the work of Jon Mackay really interesting. He uses silk screen printing to make his landscapes - they have a few layers of natural, tonal colours that are quite atmospheric.
I also liked the simplicity of the bird prints by Liz Toole and also Sarah Cemmick.
The whole afternoon I found very inspiring. There were techniques that I was keen to try out myself and as it’s an annual event at Compton Verney I would definitely like to go back next year.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very reasonably priced (I'd had my money's worth just browsing round the shop!).
Loved the quest itself, took our 12 year old grandson with us and he was able to help us OAP's with some of the clues! We spent between 1 and 2 hours in there, we all dressed up (see my husband below) and played Twister at the end .
Before leaving Barry marked our answers in the booklet and we all got a certificate!
Honestly, it was a great experience and not expensive either!
We'll be back!Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - watchdog2757London, UK66 contributionsGreat little exhibition giving some insight into the first major battle of the English Civil War.
St Peter’s Church Radway, where the exhibition is situated, is a good example of a 19th century church that looks as if it dated back further.
The church cemetery attached is also an interesting look, contains the grave of the first woman killed by a motor car in the UK !!
Well worth an hour of anybody’s time.Written 10 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jess PSt Helens, UK125 contributionsHeaded here on the way to Stratford-upon-Avon’s centre for some Shakespeare. My friend loves WW2 and I’d heard it was free entry so thought we’d drop in.
Firstly, the museum is more of a holiday cottage. Nice building, but the reception is a check in desk for people staying at the lodge. There was a sign on the door saying reception is closed, please call a number for help with check-in. But the door was open and we just wanted to look around so we poked our heads in to find one guy at the desk, who told us he was busy working and seemed a bit annoyed to be interrupted. He showed us the door to the museum (you have to go into reception to get to it, so unsure how we could have entered without disturbing him…)
Displays were quite interesting and there’s a great paper sculpture of the trenches. Quite small but lots to take in. We were the only people in there so it was mainly a bit confusing and we felt guilty so left pretty quickly.Written 7 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Pottery painting, pass the parcel, singing & hand waving tailor made for their needs – thank you for a great party, we all loved it, lots of memories and more importantly beautifully wrapped masterpieces to take home!Written 12 December 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - malc1005Kettering, UK4,726 contributionsIf like me , you have a passion for the railways, this place is a must visit. The owner Mr Cowan has opened up a small historic house, to show off his model layouts of Stratford Upon Avon railway, and all the memorabilia he has collected over many years, it is a step back in time, with some very unique items in his collection. He also has such a wealth of information regards the railway in this part of the country, and loves to impart this information to visitors. It is a free museum, but being an old house, it is small, but is well worth a visit. Highly Recommended.Written 12 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
