Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a cute little castle ruin overlooking Tolfa. It’s a bit of a steep climb up with some steps, but it’s manageable. The castle ruin and the walkway up are both kept in good condition. There’s an attractive modern church built in the old style situated just below it. There aren’t many parking spots on the street where the climb up starts, but we were lucky to find one. Via Frangipani is a dead-end street and turning around was quite difficult when we left. If you can't park where we did, then you're going to have to do more walking.

There are several places to park below the climb and if you are really lucky you might find a free one. The climb to the top is fairly steep, wide path, uneven stones, lots of handrails. View from the top is well worth it. The ruined castle/watchtower is just above the Church. Nice picnic areas outside of the church at that level.

We drove into the old town, for those who want to visit the the church and ruins on the top of the rock, there is parking in a small square at 80cents per hour. There is a small road that goes up quite a way, however for inhabitants only (We we told the police are quite strict about this), depending on your fitness the walk can be quite telling, however, for the awesome views alone it is worth it. Perfect on a sunny day.

Spectacular views from the top. Definitely worth the walk. Tolfa is majestic. Everything you imagine a small traditional Italian town to be.

We decided to stop at Tolfa and climb to the church and to the ruins for a break. And it was well worth it. The climb to the top is easy because the steps are well maintained. The sights from the top are good and it was a nice place to take some photographs of the surrounding area.
