Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First of all, do not follow Google maps if you're trying to find this monument, as well the 1 US infantry division one and German bunkers. They will take you on a 15 min detour drive.
All of these monuments are just down the path from the American cemetery parking lot in the opposite way from the cemetery itself.

The carpark to this area is beside the American Cemetary exit. There is only a single path that leads towards the ocean and the memorials, you just have to cross a road. You first pass the memorial for the First Infantry Division. If you keep going then you end up at his memorial. This one has four sides with different writings over black stones. Each side also has a plaque above the engraved stone. There are two benches close to the monument, including one which looks out to the sea. The sea side is also where the Croix du Guerre is displayed.
It is quite a nice memorial and really nice views of the beach. There is a path to one side that leads down to the bottom of the memorial into a bunker,

A beautiful location by the sea. It does involve a short walk from the car park. But no entry charge, and an important part of the DDay landing experience.

A simple but fitting memorial to those special engineers that fell during the assault.
They deserve your visit!

The monument to the 5th Engineers sits above Omaha Beach and is a poignant reminder of the many brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice on D-Day. Please visit on a trip to the Normandy landing beaches.

Another monument located in a place where it is easy to take some time to look and learn. A great backdrop and room to meditate on what it all means.

While touring the American Military Cemetery at Omaha Beach, don't miss out on the short walk to this memorial located on top of a German bunker. If you don't know it is there, it would be easy to miss. Take the time to walk down and see the memorial to the 1st Infantry Division and the Fifth Engineers. Well worth the walk and time.

Located within the American Normandy Cemetery complex this four-sided memorial is dedicated to the 35 men lost while attached to a joint Army-Navy command during the D-Day landings. The memorial is located just down the hill from the Big Red One memorial and sits atop a casement that is part of the Widerstandsnest 60 German defensive complex. Well worth the short amount of time required paying respects to these brave men who faced extraordinary circumstances on D-Day.
