Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Porto Empedocle, in the south coast of Sicily, is a town of fishermen, there is a beautiful sea.... But first of all, this is the city of the Great Andrea Camilleri.

Sorry, folks, but this guy is not Montalbano. Could be Pirandello, but there's another statue of him nearby.

detailed statue, real size, of a person I don't know. Apparently some person out of a TV-series. What you see on the picture is what you get. No much more to see in Porto Empedocle.

It is what it is. If you're in Porto Empedocle and you're a Montalbano fan, why not stop for a photo?

Montalbano is much followed here, and an unsurprising idea to put a statue up to him, but of course the statue doesn't look anything like either actor from the TV series, and likely not much like the mind's eye picture readers of the books would have formed individually. A statue of the author might be more appropriate!

Because there's more to Sicily than great food, great drinks, great beaches and great weather. Great literature has it's place on every trip!

If you're a fan of the Inspector Montalbano (Andrea Camalieri novels) and your passing through Porto Empedocle to get to the temples or Scala Turchi, then take a few minutes to see this unquie bronze statue Montalbano. Nice little stop, to see the statue, enjoy a inexpensive gelato or espresso a the local bar on the street of Via Roma.

If you know and like the books of Andrea Camalieri you will definitely stop here and take a photo. The statue is right in the heart of Porto Empedocle.
