Neighbourhood: Sé
Sé, which derives its name from Sé Square, is a central neighbourhood in historic São Paulo. Close by, the Law School, the Museum of the Court of Justice and the Metropolitan Cathedral offer inspiring architecture. If you are looking for cultural activities, head to Caixa Cultural and check the schedule. In the area there is a popular pedestrian street called “Rua Direita”, one of the first streets in the region, which today marks the crowded perimeter. Sé is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.

What an amazing experience! I went to this theater in October, after a lot of work to get a ticket. Tickets are free and they run out of slots pretty quickly, so be quick to grab one. Tickets are only available one day prior to visitation day, so you really need to keep your eyes open.
I arrived super early. The area around the museum has a lot of people during the entire day, from workers to homeless people.
The free tour has a guide, who will walk through the museum while explaining its story, the important aspects of the architecture, why some decisions were made. This is the kind of experience that you usually need to pay for, but here it was completely free. Sadly we couldn't go to the underground because of current shows, but if you are lucky you can get to visit the underground area of the theater.
I don't know if there is an english guide available, but I am pretty sure there is!
I recommend eating at the theater café after the visit, just besides the theater! Go to the bathrooms to have a taste of the rocky underground tunnels of the theater too.

We had a great experience. First, the architecture is simply beautiful both outside and inside.
We saw a classical music show with symphoic orchestra, and it was really good. It was very pleasant and also very cheap.

This place was listed as a “must see”in a tourist brochure. We almost thought that it could just be hyperbole. But no! This place is the number one place that we visited in São Paulo. We ensured we were there for the free, guided, one hour tour. The guide was excellent. His method of getting us think about the time, place and context of the monument to wealth in São Paulo early in the 1900’s was stimulating. This building is an absolute treasure of art work, sculpture, design and usage.
With the guide explaining so many wonderful details, we learned so much. Don’t miss seeing this beautiful building -particularly inside. We were told just how reasonable tickets were to attend a performance of opera, music concert or plays.

There is a free guided tour in English at 11 am on weekdays. It lasts one hour which is more than we wanted to spend there but was very informative. We learned how affordable it is: 40 to 120 reais only, sometimes even free. I loved the Walkyrie mosaic and all the marble and stainless glass.

One of the most beautiful buildings in São Paulo. Recommended is to take the guided tour to learn the history of the building. Only bad point was that we couldn’t see the main room because of a rehearsal going on at the time.

Boa sorte.
Alguma peogramação para 23/8/17 ?
