Nice Place to Visit
feb 2020
The Liberdade neighbourhood is a very different place at São Paulo city due to the fact its a Japanese community. The foods in the square are very good. Try the shrimp balls

Crowded spot with traditional Japanese food
aug 2019
It is very crowded for an small and narrow street. The cars still pass through with all the crowds walking there since there is no space left on the side walk. You see Japaneses are making real Japaneses food there and is very good. There are chines, Koreans, stores and restaurants, ice cream shops, and normal stores .

Good place to check out
jún 2019
We went to the Praca de Libertad Wednesday in the morning around 10. Not much movement which was good for me. There are some very interesting small shops (some are chinese) and restaurants.

More made in China than Japanese stuff
jan 2019 • Služobná cesta
The market is promoted as the largest Japanese street fair outside Japan but I found it quite disappointing. Most of the street vendors were selling stuff which had no relation to Japan. There are some proper shops also but only a handful are Japanese while the rest sell made in China stuff. On the plus side, don’t miss the street hawkers food and drinks

Street food and souvenir shopping.

The Sunday Liberdade market is a small, but very amusing activity. The biggest attraction is definitely the food (the shaved ice and the takokoyaki stalls are great!), but I think everyone has something interesting on display. My favorite is definitely the one belonging to the shinto temple, where you can purchase a blessed omamori (lucky charm). The proceeds help maintain the temple, which is actually in another area, but also worth a visit. Along the square, there are many grocery shops that can be a dream for people who enjoy cooking, as there are many common Asian ingredients that are not found elsewhere in the city. It is a quick program, easy to arrive at, and always fun. Highly recommended!

A bit disappointing

I thought it would be a sort of Chinatown but not at all. Not photogenic, only good for great restaurants.

Less Japan more China
jan 2018 • Páry
Whereas before this district had a distict Japanese character, it is taken over by Chinese, selling cheap and cheerful made in China. Easy to get good Chinese food as Japanese restaurants are closed outside meal hours!

The orient in São Paulo
dec 2017
In the Liberdade Square, every Sunday the traveler can eat all kind of Brazilian and oriental foods, like a pastel or yakisoba. Every body by in the kiosks an eat standing by the street, between hundreds of visitors. Around the square there is several stores selling thousands of imported oriental items, and several greenery with very fresh vegetables, fruits.

The Japan in São Paulo
jan 2018 • Rodinné
If you like Manga (Japanese comic), Anime action figures, Japanese, Taiwanese, Korean and Chinese culinary, that is the right spot.
You can also find Japanese kitchen gadgets and accessories as well groceries market.
It will be crowded by the weekend as most of major attraction points in São Paulo, but worth the attempt.
If you can use the subway is pretty easy, just jump into the Liberdade metro station and you will be already at the street court food.
There are also some galleries/booths with electronics but be careful with the counterfeit goods.

Nice stroll and good street market
dec 2017 • Rodinné
At this market everything is sold.
From wonderful food, to fresh coconut water, toys hand made, things for house, etc.

Less than a block there is a good shop to buy hairdresser products and with great prices. Everything you can imagine.

Plus the best Pastel in SP!
