Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice experience
Had the chance from the hotel to do a little calligraphy workshop.
It was a nice time and we’re having nice memories for our home.
Best wishes

Visited this place on 4th April. They offer nice local produced art. Bought one piece (picture attached) and agreed that due to size the product should be sent to my private address. Had to pay extra charge for shipping.
Never received my purchase and all my E-Mail have been ignored

My partner and I had a great time at Dar Jilani. The place is open for art tours, lunches, dinners and brunchs. We went there for a kitchen class that was crafted for the two of us (adapted to our request not to have meat and organised for us only). We felt very much looked after all throughout the experience. First, Jilani took us in his beautiful art studio were he paints and creates all sorts of arts and crafts. Then we did our cooking with Radia, the amazing cook of Dar Jilani who really made us feel at home. Radia cooks traditional Tunisian food and this is how we learnt to prepare fish couscous, the Tunisian salad and amazing tuna bricks. The place stayed open just for us and we then had dinner (all that we cooked!) with the owners in the garden: Jilani and Esther with whom we had a beautiful time. The place is really beautiful: outdoor sitting, a swimming pool, all surrounded by blossoming bougainville. Very much recommended, and last but not least, very honest prices!

We knocked on the door passed 4 pm. He had closed his space as the weather was iffy.
But he opened it all up again for us.
A specialist in recycled objects, Mr. Jilani, a well-known international artist, has made his home a gem.
The garden is decorated with painted doors and artifacts he wroked on. He has a cafeteria there.
And inside, underground, it is Ali Baba's cave. Treasures of works from him. All from recycled jewelry to reused wood and glass. Everything you can think of, he has.
And he can produce things for you.
He painted with a few master brush roles a sea scene in Djerba, in front of our very impressed eyes.
And he has interesting conversation. You can sit in a cosy salon space there too, and talk about art, Jerba and the world
Spend 2 hours there with a native Djerbian who is a credit to his island.
An unforgettable experience

If I would be on Djerba on my own I would never have thought of visiting, but it was worth it. Here you can try traditional food and watch really great artist perform his craft. Also his gardens are very nice.

An enchanting home that provides an opportunity to see and purchase local art.
M. Jalini is a fascinating character as well as being very talented; chatting away to all his guests while painting away!

Look carefully at all his creations in his workshop that range from glassware to keyrings, paintings to jewelry as well as unique ornaments for you and your home. There is no pressure to buy but I could not resist commissioning two small pieces for my living room, as well as purchasing some smaller gifts for myself and friends.

Being an art enthusiast, what I loved most about this trip out to Dar Jilani, was soaking up the atmosphere of the art "cave", the garden, and the great conversation we had with the artist himself. Not only that, but his inspirational pieces, his dedication to his work and the preservation of local crafts was unique in a country that struggles to showcase it's artistic talents.

I understand that M. Jilani and his team also provide traditional lunches and drinks although we didn't have time to try them.

For me, this was more than just a visit to a "tourist spot" it was a memorable experience.
