Poor man’s Ocean City. Just loaded with rude people from the big city. Grew up south of Annapolis and parents still live in their same home since 1965. Been to Sandy Point once and never again. Locals have always avoided at all costs. Only ones that go are those new to the area that came from NY and NJ and haven’t seen water other than what’s in their bathtub. Bay water is nasty water when it gets hot and bacteria infections become a big risk. If the Sea nettles don’t get you, than stinking thugs that don’t know how to behave in a social setting will. Just call it Sandcompton Park. No thanks.

Great Beach Walk
feb 2021 • Priatelia
We had a lovely walk on the beach and got some amazing views and pictures of the Bay Bridge! There is a price per car and potential for the location to get very crowded.

Great Picnic at the Point
sep 2020 • Páry
What a way to end the season before it got cold again. The beach area was beautiful with brown sand, no crazy green moss, and plenty of socially-distanced people.

We brought our own beach towels and just enjoyed the sun. There are changing rooms in the bathroom area. The food they have at the concession stand is mediocre but it doe sthe job. You can walk over to the dock are to see boats, too.

Families were spread out all over the beach enjoying the time before having to hunker down for three cold months. We enjoyed a picnic and some wine while basking in the sun.

Fall Day
okt 2020
My husband and I went here on a chilly autumn day. This park features two large parking lots, several picnic tables, and a huge beach with a view of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Since it was not summer, there was hardly anyone here, though, I imagine it gets very, very busy in the summer.

Beautiful Park
sep 2020
Very nice park to visit. Was in the area for a long weekend, spent a few hours at the park. Large and spacious. Nice little beach area, we hung out in the sun and watched the car's go across bay bridge. Fun to watch boats go by. Plenty of tables and BBQ pits for folks to picnic. Small concession stand for drinks, pizza, etc. Well worth a half a day to just relax and enjoy the scenary.

Midweek Beach Break!
okt 2020 • Sólo
Perfectly, quiet with few people. I laid out my blanket, ate my lunch, sketched and bay watched. I arrived around 1:30 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon. It was a beautiful fall day. There were a handful of groups. Everyone was socially distancing and enjoying themselves. There were a few swimmers, despite signs advising no lifeguards! The water was cold but clear. Great for dipping your feet in. I would say look out for jelly fish in the surf. The sand was clean and there were plenty of porta potties, if you needed one. This is a very convenient location for me, I live in Arnold. Overall a very pleasant experience!

Pretty view of bridge
aug 2020 • Páry
We enjoyed the beach as it is less than two hours from our home. Very crowded with a lot of visitors from Baltimore and DC. Is a surprisingly large beach so pretty easy to find a spot. The water was clean and calm but lots of jellyfish.Nice concession stand and decent bath house. Pretty views of the Chesapeake bridge would recommend to families.

Won’t be back.

Should be free. Dirty. Bathrooms unusable, filthy. Beach goers rude. Showering instead of rinsing off. Concession stand okay. No trash cans on beach; have to walk to dumpster to throw away trash.

Hot sand!!
júl 2020 • Priatelia
I’m surprised I haven’t read this in more reviews—the sand is so hot it’s unbearable. This was my first time visiting, and if I ever came back would wear fully enclosed shoes. I’m a grown adult and it was so hot I almost cried, and the bottoms of my feet are blistered from the sand burning them. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s a manmade beach and the sand is darker in color, but would warn (especially for children) to have water shoes. Some of the worst pain I’ve ever felt! Besides the sand, a pleasant day experience.

Brown water view of bridge - nice staff
júl 2020 • Rodinné
The beach is accessible to DC as it's only an hour from the city. I reco getting there by 9:30 as it fills up quickly. We got there at 11AM yesterday and they were at full capacity. I would not go back as the water was brownish - likely from the sand which is a desert orange color. But the view is also of a bridge with lots of traffic which you can hear on the beach. Also, lots of jelly fish - kids from two separate families sitting in front of us were stung. I also saw one next to a mom and her baby sitting in the water (warned them and they moved). Jelly fish are abundant and normal in July in the intense heat in the Bay, rivers and coves.
I read other review that water was cold - def was not today - it was like warm bath water. Temperatures have been 95+ this week tho.
Gave rating a 3 bc plentiful bathroom facilities close to beach (although dirty), lots of parking food for sale and pleasant staff.
Also, beach and water packed - ppl did set up w/in 5-6 feet of us.
Will not go back.
