Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent a rainy day in Zilina, so the weather wasn’t very good for walking and taking photos, but we visited this place and sat down on a terrace of a cafe. It’s a nice square with colourful buildings around, eg. City Hall. In the middle of the square there is a fountain and a statue ’Immaculata’.

In the middle of the square is the statue of the Immaculate Conception (Immaculata), which was built in honor of the re-Catholicization in 1738. The statue is placed on a pedestal with a relief of St. Florian, patron saint of firefighters. Behind the statue is a small park. As part of the reconstruction of the square, two historic wells were restored, in which the water is located at a depth of about 12 meters.

House number 1 on the square is the City Hall of Žilina on its eastern side, although the entrance to the building is from Radničná Street.

The town hall underwent several construction modifications. The current appearance of the town hall dates from 1890. The last reconstruction took place in 1992 and 1993. There are also original Gothic cellars in the town hall building. Today, the mayor of the city is located at the town hall, and there are representative spaces in which the City Council sits and wedding ceremonies take place. On the ground floor of the town hall is a bust of Andrej Hlinka (1864-1938), a Roman Catholic priest and important Slovak actor, quoting a poem by Andrej Žarnov. Of interest is the carillon on the facade of the building, which since 1994 plays tunes after the beat every hour.

On the west side of the square stands the Roman Catholic Church of the Conversion of St. Paul and the Jesuit monastery. The church was completed in 1754. The two-tower baroque building is single-nave. The towers are 32 meters high. The main altar is Baroque, the author of the painting of St. Pavla is a well-known Slovak painter Jozef Božetech Klemens (1817-1883). The monastery has a memorial plaque dedicated to the Bishop of Nitra, Jozef Vurum (1763-1838) and a memorial plaque dedicated to the Order of the Sisters of St. Vincent for rescuing nine Jewish children during the war.

Live music on Friday nights - restaurants busy every night! This is a fun place to walk around and people watch. Many buildings are in need of some renovation though.

A nice pedestrian square, full of beautiful buildings and cafes around and a fountain in the middle. It is nice to sit in one of those cafes, drinking coffee or beer and watching people moving around.

Maria`s square lies in the middle of the old town of Zilina, with the old Municipal hall, now used for various ceremonies and municipality events.... It is a pedestrian zone with cafeterias, restaurants, churches and shops.

I like this city. Zilina is a small and cute city. There is nothing much to do so a few hours is enough to spend your time. You can find everything you need. If you want to eat döner you should visit Türkiye Kebab, if you want to eat ice cream you can visit Zmrzlina Bibi.

This square is not very special, if dont count acoustic implosion effect. However, you can see a great piece of Zilina town history.

Lovely market place with a lot of terraces to have a drink outside. Nice homogenous building layout. They were just setting up the Xmas market so missed that opportunity.
