Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was the first place for us after our arrival in Zilina. It was raining so the square was empty, but later we returned and the place was friendlier. We liked it now, especially the fountain in the middle. Around there are important buildings: the Church of the Holy Trinity with the Bell tower, theatre, art gallery, bank and Mirage shopping center. It’s worth a visit.

Andrej Hlinka Square is a square in Žilina. It is named after the Slovak awakener Andrej Hlinka.
The square is another important cultural center in Žilina after Mariánské náměstí and part of the pedestrian zone. The bronze statue of Andrej Hlinka was unveiled in 1994 by the sculptor Ladislav Berák from Žilina. The square has a stepped fountain and buildings that house the Považská Art Gallery (the building has a memorial plaque commemorating the exhibition of painters in 1903), banks and the Mirage shopping center.
The square is followed by the recently reconstructed oldest city park in Žilina, Sad SNP, with a music pavilion and fountain. The monument is unveiled on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the liberation of Žilina (1955) by sculptor Rudolf Pribiš. The origin of the orchard dates back to 1902 to 1908.
From the square there is a view of its dominant - the Church of the Holy Trinity and Burian's Tower (bell tower). Between the square and the church is a balustrade from 1940, which is a sculpture of St. Cyril and Methodius.

There is nothing special here.
Last reconstruction took place 20 years ago. There is annoying obsolete big lcd screen, which shows advertising. No reason to stay here as long you pass to train or bus station.

Compared to Marianske square seems Hlinka square a bit boring - big large open space with a big screen with non stop advertising nobody watches. But it is just a first glance. If you give it a chance and stop a while you will find it beautiful in fact. First of all it offers breath taking view to the Holy Trinity Cathedral. In its corner very nice fountain can be found, in its centre Andrej Hlinka statue...and of course several places to get something small quick to eat or ice cream. At its north side behind the screen you can get to lovely small park Sady SNP or if you prefer shopping you can visit shopping mall Mirage which has an entrance directly at the square too.

On this quale you can see the shopping center Mirage, benches, ice cream spots and a tourist information office. Also nearby is a great park too.

Dominant part of Zilina's old town. If you drop from train and follow Narodna street, you will reach it after few minutes. Surrounded by nice buildings, a cathedral, and also a shopping mall. There is also a fountain in the corner. Do not miss it when stopping by in Zilina.
