- OhtobeinsandiegoCalifornia458 contributionsOutstanding One of a Kind ExperienceAs part of an organized bike tour with Trek Travel, we had an exquisite lunch at this winery, hosted by the gracious owner, who was just an outstanding host. She served a delicous meal, accompanied by delicious wines. She told wonderful stories about the history of the small village and her winery that has been around since the 12th century. She inherited through family and she and her husband modernized it while keeping the unique features that go back in history. After lunch, we toured the facility and finished up in the tasting room where we were able to purchase some her great wines for shipping back to the US.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 July 2023
- Eira1 contributionSuch an amazing stayMe and my partner had the most amazing time here. We felt so welcomed and well taken care of all through out our stay. Francesco held a private wine tasting with tour of the grounds and we have now left with an even higher appreciation for wine and everything that goes on in the production of it. And the people behind it. On one of the nights we ate at the Osteria and we still talk about the food we had. The staff in the reception were all very friendly and helpful. I haven’t even mentioned how beautiful the hotel was with view over gorgeous landscape. We are truly thankful for our stay and would love to come back again.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 August 2023
- SeafarrwideSydney, Australia2 contributionsOur favourite stay in TuscanyWe love this village and have now stay twice. The first was 2019 and again august 2023. It’s truly unique and such a stunning location up high but central to the whole Radda in Chianti region. We had a rental car and saw many popular medieval villages and wineries on our day trips. The first time we stayed in an apartment with garden access and straight down to the gorgeous pool overlooking the valley. Such an ancient village but beautifully restored. All the four restaurants serve delicious food and the night time its magical. Our favourite is the casual authentic Bar Ucci owned by Paola. Paola makes everyone feel important and like a friend. We loved the food! The actual Castello di Volpaia has its own winery which is cleverly hidden behind the historic structures of all the buildings in the village. We did a wine tasting day with a tour inside one afternoon. It was amazing to see the underground and inside the winery. The biggest wine vats I’ve ever seen and they produce the majority of the Chianti Classico wine in the region. We highly recommend staying here a minimum of 3 nights or more.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 March 2024

We spent our honeymoon at Castello di Volpaia, and it was the most amazing experience we could ever have wished for! What a romantic place in the heart of Tuscany (Chianti)! Everything is so beautiful. The customer service is impeccable and the village is breathtaking. As well as staying at the hotel, we booked a vineyard experience. Our guide, Francesco, was super kind, friendly and knowledgeable. He explained the wine production process and the history behind the estate, whilst showing us the wine cellars and vineyards. The tour ended with an amazing wine tasting session. I couldn’t recommended it enough! A dream come true! :)

It is truly amazing how they were able to maintain historic structures of all the buildings and yet turn it into a full functioning winery. Possibly the most unique winery setup you may see in all of Tuscany. A good time had by all and afterwords we enjoyed a perfect meal with Paola at Bar-Ucci

My husband and I did a wine tour here last week and we absolutely loved it! The village is beautiful, the story of how they make the wine is fascinating and the wine itself is divine. Our guide was so knowledgeable and engaging and we did the tour and tasting with a lovely group of about 10 others. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at osteria di volpaia afterwards which was just perfect. Highly recommend booking the wine tasting tour and making a reservation for dinner there afterwards.

Lovely little village with great architecture. Car park at the bottom which allows you to walk up into the medieval village. We had a walk round the village which is very small, it only took 30minutes. Get there early to enjoy without the other tourists.

All I can say is wow! What a beautiful location and property. It is truly like a fairytale. The grounds are spectacular. The staff are very pleasant, kind and attentive. The room was the perfect combination of modern and classic Italian. If you are flying into Florence, you must rent a car to get there, about an hour and 5 minutes. Be aware there are many, many, many turns on narrow roads to get to the top of the hill. Being from NY, we weren’t used to these kind of roads but it was absolutely worth it. There are 3 restaurants on site and they are all magnificent. We went to two other parts of Italy and this was our favorite food. The wine tour and tasting is a must. The history behind the village is fascinating and you get to see the ins and outs on how their wine is made. Oh, and the wine is out of this world. Shoutout to Francesca and Francessco who checked us in late at night without a problem. Don’t hesitate, book your stay here! You won’t regret it.

Wow, this place is beautiful! It’s small and remote. The whole village (comprised of 33 residents) is dedicated to the Volpaia winery. We stayed in an apartment, which was old so missing the luxuries of modernity (ie: air con, big fridge, washing machine) but we loved it and there was plenty of space for all of us. The pool was nice and the views were unbeatable. This woman-owned winery and its accommodation feels like a fairy tale!

Beautiful Tuscan hilltop hamlet with several good restaurants practically on your doorstep. Perfect location for driving around Chianti. Room was large and comfortable with old world charm. Great breakfast to start your day.

We are staying in Florence. Would you be able to pick up and drop off or how do you recommend transportation? How much is the cooking class? Is it available May 25 in the afternoon for 2 people? Also, what dishes do you cook in the cooking class?

I was at the restaurant first in 1999 and later in 2005 and had a most memorable food and welcoming experience. Could you tell me if Carolina is still associated with the restaurant. I have her card and photos of us enjoying a wonderful lunch. My husband and I plan to return in October of this year. I could not come to Italy and not visit your beautiful town. A photo of your winery is on the wall of our home. I will bring it with me when I come, in October.
