Best of modern architecture

These buildings launched the careers of architects Bjarke Ingels (BIG) and Julien de Smedt. There are a total of 3 buildings within the same block. Make sure to walk around #57 and #59 (the sides of #55 are nice for the idea and effect). The "VM bjerget" is #55 with sloping parking, angled elevator, and 10+ stories of terraced gardens. Most tourists take their photos from the eastern angled corner at the small plaza or inside the parkering area. The name is based on the location next to the previously built #57 (M-house) and #59 (V-house). #57 and 59 are shaped like the letters M and V, and they stand out as highly innovative in their use of staircases, light and transparent living (huge windows), twists (to give different views) and different apartment types (40+36) while using standard materials keeping costs below what is usual for Copenhagen. The mountain (#55) is prestige while #57 and #59 show how architects can make a huge difference to the homes of ordinary people without adding cost. Having seen buildings of Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright, I do get why this place has daily tours on bike and by bus. And as a resident I get to enjoy it every day. Unfortunately the interior of the buildings are not open to the public, but the views from inside are fantastic. Feel free to wave if you drop by! No information on-site and web is only for owners. Obviously there is plenty of paid parking. 30 min outside is free but spaces are limited. Inside you have to pay (use app or the machine (credit cards accepted) located inside and close to the exit).

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Amager
In the eastern part of this neighbourhood, visitors will discover Amager Strandpark, a beach area which has become increasingly popular. It’s only a 30 minute bicycle ride or a 10 minute Metro trip away from the city center. Only a few hundred yards inland, some of the most creative musicians, artists, and writers in Copenhagen are occupying some of the old storage houses and production facilities. The western part is one of Copenhagen's most rapidly evolving areas, here you’ll find international architecture of the highest rank, the state of the art TV-Byen (the Danish pendant to BBC), a golf course as well as Copenhagen's best (and tiniest) ice bar.

Copenhagen is a visual feast, with historic buildings and very modern architecture. This is one reason we love it so much. The modern architecture is absolutely stunning.

We ended up here by accident as our hotel was close. Wandering around for an hour or 2 resulted in seriously good discussions on how long this architecture will be considered pretty and will it eventually become a semi-ghetto?

Extremely exclusive apartments in Copenhagen. Very nice view over Copenhagen. It is a very nice architecture building with an enormously potential.
