Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unique smaller museum with local Amersfoort history including textile, auto and motorcycle and brewing history along with interesting local Dutch artists and world war II experience with Nazi occupation and Jewish internment. Very old 1400’s building with exposed timber construction evident. Worth an hour or two on your walk about.

Rather expensive entrance for a small town museum. There was not much about the local area - these parts were squeezed into the attic and the basement. Mostly everything in Dutch with minimal English signage. Confused layout to work your way around - sometimes stairs and then you need a lift. A large part was taken up with temporary exhibits of Dutch artists - who were not to my taste. The staff were friendly. Came away confused as to who this museum was for.

We came here to see an exposition of paintings from the collection of Vozyakov showing the influence of Italian renaissance masters on Dutch painting. But the museum has a very large own collection as well, and a variety of other expositions. Well worth a visit!

Next to changing topic exhibitions it contains local history and paintings. Most of all interesting is the building itself.

Amersfoort has a small but beautiful city center (surrounded by vast tracts of modern office buildings). Flehite is located on the edge between the old and new. The building itself is worth the trip, both exterior and interior. In addition: a great exhibit of cityscapes by eight artists. Show toppers are the extraordinarily detailed drawings from Stefan Bleekrode.

Had expected more from this particularly bearing in mind the high entrance fee. (Note uk credit and debit cards could not be used so you need cash.) Not enough local history, plus lack of English translation for most of the exhibits (or indeed subtitles on the films) meant we did not get as much enjoyment from this as we had hoped. (Definitely need to download the google translate app before you go! ) Would only rate fairly highly the top floor section on the Second World War.
The building itself is interesting.

Enjoyed the visit to this very interesting museum mainly to learn more about the history of Amersfoort. The other exhibitions being held were a bonus.

Being used to free museums in the UK I found the Euro 17 entrance charge rather high in view of the content (it did include a free cup of tea).
Architecturally the building is a visual treat.

At the moment there is a special exhibition on concerning Gerard Hordijk who was a neighbour and friend of Modriaan when they both lived in New York.

Interesting museum but nothing outstanding.

A really interesting small town museum with an above-average art collection of Dutch artists' works. Displays of local history are also very good especially World War Two. All housed in an interesting building on a canal of architectural interest in its own right.
