- Elizabeth MMaryland52 contributionsMust SeeEven though we have been to Rome several times we always find time to visit the Galleria Borghese. Small, well appointed museum with world class masterpieces. The tour guides are excellent, and we highly recommend getting a guided tour. The entire museum is well organised and tourist friendly. Although entry is limited in numbers, we went later in the afternoon to avoid the crowds,Visited February 2023Written 24 March 2023
- HansKwadendamme, The Netherlands2,917 contributionsAmazing collection of artWe have been here before but just because it is so beautiful we visited it again. A great collection of paintings and sculptures together in this former palace. For us the Caravaggio paintings and the Bernini sculptures stood out for us. The beauty of the statue of Pluto’s hand on the leg of Daphny, the fingers pushing in the flesh, the transformation from woman to laureltree, it’s not getting any better. We reserved the tickets on-line in advance as there are time slots for visiting.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 March 2023
- ShashaChino Valley, Arizona395 contributionsBeyond Spectacular - Plan Plenty of TimeThe Galleria, one of the most beautiful palaces in Rome, is worth visiting just to see the splendor of the rooms. Art packs the space, including works by Bernini and Caravaggio, Peter Paul Rubens, and Federico Barocci, as well as Titian's Sacred and Profane Love, and Raphael's Entombment of Christ. Cardinal Scipione Borghese began the collection in the 1600s. I would give this Museum 10 stars if possible. Be sure to buy tickets in advance! Also, check your GPS, as it is slightly tricky to get to.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 April 2023
- frances rTipperary, Ireland38 contributionsBeautiful place to visitSo much to see here. Beautiful rooms and architecture . Art by some very famous painters and history to keep your interest. The tour is about 1 5 to 2 hours but don't linger in any 1 place as you will only see a fraction of what there is to see. Be prepared to climb steps. There's a lift but always on the move. Gardens are free to roam,Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 April 2023
- wyxieLondon, Canada111 contributionsWowThis was our final destination on our tour of Rome. Absolutely stunning. Prebook tickets as they have limited access and are usually sold out. The statuary alone is work the visit. Afterwards, enjoy a walk in the park.Visited April 2023Written 9 April 2023
- Stephen BMelbourne, Florida131 contributionsMake reservations in advance!Of all of the museums to visit in Italy, this is my favorite! They limit the number of visitors, so you are not in a huge crowd - consequently, you need to make reservations as far in advance as possible. I mt many travelers who were unable to visit this gallery because they had not planned ahead. The paintings, sculptures, and the building itself are truly magnificent.Visited April 2023Travelled soloWritten 6 May 2023
- Samuel JCarlsbad, California23 contributionsMust Visit GalleryAmazing gallery for several reasons. Even with the amazing sculptures the gallery limits visitors to advance reservations and fixed entry times which gives the gallery not a feeling of being crowded at all. This allows you to stop, enjoy and get real close. Yes it’s out of the way a bit but definitely worth a visit.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 May 2023
- HeaveNEarthFairfax, Virginia229 contributionsStudy the Collection Before Your TripPlease study their collection before you go. You don't get to appreciate their incredible collection if you don't... they have more than those famous works by Bernini. Go there early and go visit all the rooms at least twice. Yes, twice.Visited March 2023Written 20 May 2023
- Flydog66Miami, Florida162 contributionsMy Favorite Museum in ItalyOutstanding museum in a spectacular setting! The core collection is wonderful and the exhibits very interesting. Enjoy the surrounding gardens as well. Advance ticket purchase a must as entrance is limited (which makes the experience very enjoyable as it limits the crowds.)Visited January 2023Written 23 May 2023
- Aaron RIndianapolis, Indiana16 contributionsOver-the-Top GrandeurWe didn't have tickets in advance so we had to sit in a line for the limited 13 tickets they sold per hour. I would buy tickets in advance if I did it again. Once inside, however, the wait was well worth it. The galleria is wildly gaudy and a spectacle of peak Italian grandeur. There's a Secret Garden off to the side, which was well worth it. The door to the garden was marked as an emergency exit, so we had to ask if it was the right door. It was, and the garden was mostly empty - probably due to people thinking the door was an emergency exit. Overall, a great site to see, especially if you're already in the Villa Borghese area.Visited June 2023Written 7 June 2023

How far in advance can one buy tickets for the Galleria Borghese through the official ticket service? Thank you.
USA_Drew
United States13,305 contributions
Historically, the official ticket selling website of the Borghese Gallery has released tickets 60 days in advance unless there is a planned exhibit changeover and ticket sales will be paused.
However, over the last year, they have been randomly releasing tickets without following any sort of schedule (not 60 days, not 30 days, it is just random) so it is best to periodically check the calendar to see if your visit date is available or not.

I have two tickets for a guided tour in October that I purchased from the gallery directly. Unfortunately, I have to cancel the trip due to serious illness.
The tickets have no names on them and I want to give them to my nephew who will be in Rome. Will he run into problems?

Probably not. Of course, you could show up on that day and see if there are any no shows. They will typically re-distribute any tickets for visitors who do not show up at the designated time. But most likely, you would just end up waiting around and not be able to enter.
Are babies allowed ? And can I take baby stroller?

This is Paula answering... I think the best thing to do is ask your questions directly with the museum or a travel consultant. Personally speaking, the Borghese museum is not for children. Waiting time varies for all attractions. Always better to have a good tour guide. I suggest RomeCabs. They were absolutely awesome! We did a private tour with them and our driver John was outstanding in every way! He took us to places not usually seen by tourist, which I loved!!! I hope this helps...

Can I buy tickets when I go there? do i wait too long? Do I need to buy online? also how much?
USA_Drew
United States13,305 contributions
I wouldn't wait to purchase tickets. There is a capacity limit for the Borghese Gallery which is strictly followed. The tickets for the gallery routinely sell out in advance. If you wait, you will need some luck. The gallery will re-sell the tickets of no-shows - so a few tickets are typically available on the day of visit. But there will probably be others trying to buy these tickets as well and you could end up wasting a lot of time waiting to see if you can buy tickets and come away empty-handed.

Do they require ID to enter? If so, would US driver license work or only the actual passport? Would like to avoid carrying those around if possible. Thank you!

when it Italy, Borhgese or not you always need to have some form of identification on you. Passport is best.
