Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really nice place to eat out in the evening, great ambience in a lovely setting. The restaurant buildings are traditional french and look quite historic.

This is the old part of Caen tucked under the shadow of the Castle/Chateau, quite small these days as it suffered heavily from the allied bombardment during WW2, these days there are some lovely eateries to visit during a stroll of the cobbled streets.

We walked all over and love it! The place has numerous charming restaurants housed in secular buildings.

The Vaugueux quarter is in fact the old town of Caen, better say what's left of it after the WWII bombing. It stands just across the Chateau.
The area consisting of one main street and few side ones is not that impressive when compared to Rouen old town we've visited the day before.
However, it's pleasant to walk around and have a drink or dine in one of many establishments around.

Small district, the only old area survived to the WWII bombings. It is full of restaurants some of which are good and budget

When you walk this short street you can't help but wonder how the city looked before it was bombed during the war. As glad as you are that what the result for society was as sad it is with all the damage that was done - not only here off course but in so many other places.
The street is full of small restaurants and the old houses are very charming. We came here just after lunch so we did not stay very long, but it is well worth a visit even if you are not planning to eat.

This is a delightful square in Caen, completely car free, thus forming an irregular square of old houses. The houses have been converted to restaurants, with a great choice of different options and price ranges. In summer, all of them have a terrace and one can enjoy the good weather and view while eating.

This is the go-to place for a variety of restaurants side by side in a lovely old street - very lively on Friday and Saturday evenings

This is like stepping through a warp hole into the past. Not much of Caen survived the bombing in WW2, but this little corner of Caen near the chateau is a real treat. Mostly restaurants, but lovely to wander through and have a meal or a drink at one of the restaurants/coffee bars.
