Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This dwelling is a little footnote in history. It is located a ways off the main road, but is nice for a quick stop and photo op. According to the signage on the house, on the morning of June 6th, a squad of US soldiers advanced to this village about 0900, entered the property and was shocked to discover a French family in residence. This marked the first liberation in France during D-Day.

This house was the first dwelling liberated on D Day at Omaha beach - meaning it was the first house where the Americans found a French family inside when they entered. It's possible just to visit, see the house from the outside, and read the panels for a very quick, interesting visit. It's also possible to have a guided tour (I think only in French) by the owner, who is passionate about the house, its history, and its links to the Resistance. It's also possible to have an evening event, themed around the 1940s, to learn more about the history, or even to stay in the house for the night with a meal cooked for you! We stayed in the little cottage in the courtyard, which is a more modern house. So, don't expect a huge museum, just an interesting little place with a very personal story to tell.
