Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful scenario, and a must-go place if you want to find a cool spot during a hot summer day.
Here are some hints if you want to visit them on your own, for free:
- if you don't tolerate cold water a diving suit is suggested
- for your safety some kind of waterproof shoes are also suggested
- The last suggestion is to bring some kind of waterproof bag (at least for your phone, wallet...)
- follow the GPS to get to "Stretti di Giaredo" and park your car along the unpaved road (or just before if you don't have enough ground clearance)
- once you get close to the creek Gordana you will find a couple of paths to the riverbed
- from there you have to walk along or in it, upstream, for 200/300 meters before the proper canyon begins
- the canyon is about 1 km long and when you'll reach a little waterfall - you can climb - you are almost at the end (up after the waterfall you can follow the river for some other 500m to the base of a dam but the proper canyon is over)
- there are almost 3 short sections of the canyon in which you will have to swim.
- to enjoy the visit take a couple of hours of time
- if you arrive in Giaredo in the morning (before 10) you'll have more chances to find a good parking spot and to visit the canyon without crowd (at least on your way up)
- a good plan would be spend the morning there and have lunch in Pontremoli

We did this for tour with Sigeric and it was absolutely worth it. You definitely need the wetsuit and having a guide to show you everything and explain the rock structure, plants and animals was very interesting. Our children are 7,12 and 14,so sometimes it's hard finding something that all 3 can do and enjoy together (without one being bored or unable to participate). This was one of the highlights of our trip for all the children and we would very, very highly recommend it to anyone coming to this area.

We went up the gorge on an evening from the south side of the valley which does not really have a track and would only be passable when the river is low as it was when we ventured. I think the tracks on this side are so unused they have vanished and also evidence of a few rock slides will not have helped. It is our intention to walk the north side tomorrow. But well worth the trouble to walk up

This might be Pontremoli's best hidden secret.
The Stretti is a natural canyon with clear water and a lot of swimming opportunities.
Some local companies are also organising Canyoning trips.
This is a great place to go for a picnic or to entertain children or teenagers.
But don't expect to be informed about this place by the local tourist office - we found it my pure chance unfortunately right at the end of our holidays in Pontremoli.
