The Vineyard itself is a national monument, the buildings well preserved, and just like a great vintage, they seem to have obtained better character through ageing.

The first flag of Chile was sewn together here at what is now the former home of the Carrera family.

Viña Doña Javiera's wine tour (which must be booked in advance) is a delight, not overtly commercial and very personal. Three wines are offered in the tasting and lunch can be reserved upon booking the tour.

The gardens contain a 250-year old Magnolia and large Lucuma tree; rare a beautiful!

Visitors can tour the Carrera family's country home and visit the fountain where Isabel Riquelme hand sowed the first flag of Chile.

This winery has a lot of history and the tour was very complete and informative. We received personalized attention, and the owner was really interested in what we thought. If you want to learn and see some of the history of Chile and enjoy some good wine, make sure you put this winery on your list!
